I weaned off of 1800mg of oxcarbazepine in about a week and a half. Had to for another treatment option.
I did experience some sleep disturbances and other mild withdrawals during that time.
However, now that it has been over two weeks I am having numbness in my entire body and tingling in my lips. I am terribly spaced out and having a hard time functioning.
Are these symptoms of oxcarbazepine withdrawal?

Thanks, I linked to the site you posted. It doesn't say anything about numbness or feeling like one is in a different world. I am baffled.

trileptal is a sodium channel...blocker or something....that high of a dose is ... high, you might want to get on something to make these numbfeelings go away. The reason is that the electrical actitivy has increased since you stopped taking it....tingling and numbness are usally electrical waves in the nerve systems.
Lamictal...would be great...but it takes a while to start working. Depakote would be a good quick fix. Take GABA supplement, it should slow down the Electrical waves...

I didn't know trileptal was given in this high a dose. What were you taking it for and will you take a replacement med? If so how come the doc didn't already start it and build up? Phillipa

a great thing I forgot to tell you....NUERONTIN it will help you much with these symptoms your having...its a anticonvlant and also mood effects, but it will take care of this thing your having. That is a incredibly high dose you where taking, never heard of that high.
Get on Depakote, or Nuerontin,... Lamictal...or topamax or somethin... those should take care of your state right now. Trileptal withdrawl from that high of a dose is pretty bad.

It sounds like withdrawals to me. I've had enough of them. It's weird, but some meds didn't hit me until maybe 3 or 4 weeks after I stopped them, it was pretty mild up until then. Most meds hit me earlier, some as early as the 1st or 2nd day. The symptoms you described were pretty common in many of my withdrawals. The spaced out thing for sure, but the numbness tingling, I dunno, I've never experienced that in a withdrawal. I did with Lyme disease. I guess a different take could be that the medicine was doing a good job of masking something else going on. And then when the med was removed, that something whatever it was came out. So I dunno.
I do think it should be checked out medically. Strokes and heart problems and some infectious diseases can have the numbness/tingling symptoms. My gut instinct is it would be a waste of money, but you never know, could save your life. The other symptoms on their own don't seem out of the ordinary for withdrawal symptoms, but the numbness tingling stuff kind of worries me a little.
I guess you could always test it by getting back on it for a few days to see what happens.

BP1, mixed states, (ultra)rapid cycling.
1800mg oxcarbazepine isn't even the max dosage - 2400mg is. And I've actually heard of someone on CBs taking 3600mg. I thought that was pretty high, at least for my understanding.
