4 important Parnate questions from a newbie

Posted by 4WD on September 30, 2012, at 18:52:12

Is it to take 20mg of Parnate at once? Us that the max per dose?

How quickly can I raise the dose? (i started at 30mg/day). I've pushed it first to 40 during the second and up to 60a couple of days starting the third week. I even tried 80 one day-bad idea).

What does just Parnate itself do to blood pressure, assuming no interactions with food or meds? Raise it? Lower it? It seems to mostly just make mine unstable-up but mostly down, way down.

Finally, if my bp drops to 60/40 is it okay to eat, say a sliver if cheese, etc to raise it enough that I can stand up without fainting?

I was on Nardil 30-45mg day several years ago and had the low bp issue then also, but no spikes. I had to drink salt water daily to keep it up.

I think that would be extremely unwise - far better to ask your doctor for a script for Florinef (this steroid makes the body retain fluid and salt, and thus prevents the hypotension caused by MAOI drugs)

Provided there isnt any pressing need to get the dose up quickly, I'd raise it by 10mg per week.

I'm always in a hurry to feel better. As in NOW. But if I've waited 3 years, I guess I can wait a little longer. Thank you both.
