I want first to apologize... I'd have done more research myself if I wasn't stuck with a phone that was probably average in 2001. My lab results are in but due to legal reasons I have to have the doctor tell me at tomorrow's appointment. I can't know first. I'm like, come on guys it's not an HIV test... but regardless: T3 and T4 what's the diff? What's better for anxious depression? Also, testosterone. Critical here ... when it was tested a year ago it was in the low 400s. According to my research at the time, that was average for a man in his 70s. I am 29 and male. What form is best? Finally, Mirapex... anyone used it? Might provide some relief as a full DA agonist... have heard good things about it. I have been treatment resistant for enough years to warrant looking beyond the monoamine hypothesis. Let's hope doc puts me on something good...

I must agree that is a bit dumb not to give results of T3 and T4 over phone my endo does all the time. Are you already on a thyroid med for thyroid disease? As for the testosterone in all seriousness I recomment bioidentical. Men also go to hormone docs. Check out this site www.carolinahealthspan. They have a mens' section. Phillipa

Z,
I know that t3 can be very activating. Cytomel. Suggest start low.
The rest I don't know. Mirapex was recommended by Stanford once. Didn't try it....
Good luck!

I have a friend that suffers from fatigue and depression that went the testosterone route. He was a little on the low end of the scale and is now near the top. His fatigue and depression came back after a few months.
I would wonder what supplementing with such a hormone would do to your own production of it. Seems risky in the long term.
Mirapex is a pretty potent dopamine agonist. Supposedly, some people on it have had issues with 'sleep attacks' and addictive behaviors. My doc wont touch it, but many do use it for augmenting antidepressants.
I wonder what happens in the long term with meds that raise the levels of monoamines.. does your brain adapt to the higher levels over time? Does this essentially make you dependent on meds?
I wonder if I should look into something like tianeptine.
This is the end of the thread.
