Klonopin question

Posted by michelle41a on August 27, 2010, at 11:07:14

Hello!
I have a question about Klonopin dosage. I am taking .5 in the morning for morning anxiety..I take .25 in the evening.
Unfortunately, I am med phobic so I end up taking the .5 over the course of an hour.. I guess I am afraid of the Klonopin hitting me hard by taking the .5 all at once.
I am taking the yellow .5 tablets and letting them dissolve on my toungue.
Should I have my Pdoc prescribe me the wafers so I can take it all at once instead of cutting up the tablet and taking it over the course of an hour? I think my problem is that I am afraid of swallowing the whole pill.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :D
Thanks so much!
Michelle

I'm assuming you sleep well otherwise I'd think the highest dose of klonpin would be at night. Could you switch the doses that way? Also didn't know came in a wafer. I have taken it and found it subtle is working. Don't fear it. Phillipa

Hi phillipa :)
I have been having horrible morning anxiety so I thought to try .5 to see if it would help calm down my gut.. I am feeling really out of it so I think I will take your advise and take .25 in the morning and .50 in the evening.
I also started 12.5 zoloft yesterday and I am praying that it will work as good as it did when I took it 4 years ago.. Right now my appetite sucks so I am hoping that the Klonopin will help me get my appetite back :)What is frustrating is that I get really hungry but I have to force myself to eat.. I don't throw up, in fact I do feel better when I am done eating.. I guess I still am having anxiety concerning eating food :(
Thank you so much for your message :)

Having a bad day :( I hope my zoloft kicks in soon

Well, I had a good day yesterday.. I was able to eat a decent amount of food and I felt better than I have since this whole panic break down started on 7/22.
I started the Zoloft (12.5mg) on 8/27 I am also taking .5 klonopin 2x a day.. I was on zoloft 5 years ago and it worked great for me..
Today was bad for me though. I woke up to my usual racing heart and loose bowel incident ( I only go once a day, probably due to the fact that my appetite sucks so I don't eat much)
I took .5 klonopin which calmed me down a bit. Then I had an eggo waffle around noon and took my zoloft. I became tired so I took a nap.. I woke up hungry and with a huge panic attack!! I just took .25 Klonopin and had a few bites of soup.
I called my pdoc and he said that it will take time for the meds to work. I know that but I am still quite freaked out about the fact that I am 5'8 and 117lbs. I have had days where I could eat a decent amt of food then days where I can't hardly eat a thing. My Pdoc doesn't seem to be too concerned about my weight.
My problem is that I get hungry, I panic, then I am afraid to eat. When I do eat, I am fine. Sorry for rambling but I am scared out of my mind. I am going to see a therapist tomorrow about this so hopefully he can help me. I am afraid that I am never going to get my appetite back and I will end up in the psych ward. Has anyone been through this that can give me some advise?
Also, has anyone gone back on an ssri that worked for them before and have it work again?
I apologize for the long winded post, I am just really freaked out right now :(
One more question: does anyone know what kind of dosing schedule I should be doing with the Klonopin so it doesn't wear off between doses? Maybe that will help with the break thru panic attacks I am having? Thanks for reading!!

When I started on lexapro I could barely eat for days and had such loose bowels it was embarrassing. But that went away after a few weeks. Lexapro worked somewhat for me. I wasn't so much severely depressed as anxious and irritable all the time. It stopped that. I stopped lexapro and went back on it and it worked again, this time without the start-up side effects on my appetitite (also my sleep -- I would wake up at 4:00AM raring to go). So hang in. The appetitite thing and bowel problems are generally short-lived and although a lot of people on this list talk about stopping a drug and then it won't work again, that was not my experience.

Thanks so much Emmanuel for the reply! I feel like I am living in a nightmare some days!! I am just hoping for light at the end of the tunnel! LOL!!
