hey-for those with TRD or poor response to medications -consider Lyme disease.
Congress recently introduced a bill for Lyme research and improved testing methods, along with a task force:

To support the bill, contact any of the Congressmen/women involved with the bill:

this is good for mental health!

Last one worked. Since I've had chronic lymes. It's doctor education that's needed. I have IGG positive and according to rheumatologist that means it's like a vaccine and I have immunity now as it's been years since treated. Two years of treatment. I sure hope it over with as I've laid it to rest. No arthritis pain ever, no rash, only thing was I think that's when my hasimotos thyroiditis started but don't know if related. Why did they decide to investigate further? Phillipa

I've been screaming this from the rooftops for months now, to a seemingly empty house. For sure, when there is TRD, poor medication response, exaggerated medication sensitivities, exaggerated side effects, Lyme HAS to be near the top of the suspect list. If it happens to include chronic fatigue, brain fog, hints of word finding difficulty, and possible unexplained pains, then the picture becomes even more suspect.
The real problem here lies in the testing. Many people who are highly infected are told they are not. Our current tests were not intended for individual or accurate diagnosis, but since they are all we have they have been adopted as general practice. That is not at all good for patients with the above symptoms, as they may completely miss an otherwise obvious diagnosis and a totally different strategy in curing the psychiatric symptoms with antibiotics rather than antidepressants. Their future will continue to deteriorate and frustrate as long as their vision is confined to the psychiatric toolbox.
Lyme at this point in time is a clinical diagnosis, not a laboratory diagnosis. Hopefully they will come up with more accurate testing. I am aware there are several being tested right now that are highly accurate. Awesome. Can't wait. So many people are going to benefit from that. Answers will be found in those cases where hope and answers had long ago dried up.
Clinical diagnosis considers the overall picture of history and symptoms. The most accurate test is the Herxheimer reaction. Pretty simple, cheap, safe, and accurate.
This is the end of the thread.
