Depakote insomnia?

Posted by SheilaC on December 16, 2009, at 10:31:36

I may try a higher dose of Depakote. One of the issues I had with it (and the pharmacist confirmed this) is insomnia.

What can you to for Depakote insomnia?

Sheila is it working for you other issues? I forget what do you take for sleep now. Insomnia is not nice at all and you do need sleep. Phillipa

I found Depakote really sedating when I took it years ago. I guess you could try anything really to help with the insomnia like Ambien or Lunesta.

Depakote used to make me a tired zombie during the day, but disturbed my sleep so bad at night. Very weird. I had insomnia with it for sure, despite being zombied on it.

At the time I was taking Zyprexa. It had enough sedating power to knock me out, but I slept very light and woke many times. Prior to Depakote, Zyprexa had been giving me the best sleep of my life.

My usual crutch was to take Lunesta which worked pretty good. Depakote really didn't do much for me other than a vague sense of distant stabilization, so I weaned off it after a couple months trial.
