Has anyone had that experience? I stopped Lithium in the summer of 2008 because I thought it wasn't helping. That was when I got destabilized and have never been properly stabilized since. When I tried to go back on it in the winter of 2008 it didn't work. Should I try to go back on it again? Will it ever work again?

Yes, I had that experience. I took prozac for a year and it worked great. Then p-doc said I could try stopping. The depression came back, and when I started prozac again, it didn't work. Doubling the dose didn't work either. Ended up adding on wellbutrin. That sort of worked, but not as well as prozac did by itself the first time around. I guess this is not uncommon.
I've been off it for a while now, so I'm actually wondering if it'd work if I tried it again as I think some people cycle through different meds after they poop out.

If a drug poops out (like Geodon has for me), should you just stop taking it entirely and hope it comes around to being a useful drug again down the road?

I experienced this with Zoloft. Stopping taking it when i did was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Not only did I make myself vulnerable to a major episode but I found that just taking Zoloft alone or taking Zoloft at all would never be effective like it was for the seven years that I took it.
