I have treatment resistant major depression with atypical features, ADHD, and social anxiety. Currently taking sertraline, wellbutrin xl, concerta, pindolol and liotrix (t3/t4). I dropped memantine - I kept feeling stranger.
Has anyone had long-term success with aripiprazole (Abilify is such a smarmy name). I am afraid of fatigue, anhedonia or emotional blunting (my experience with lamotragine for instance).
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Abilify was a miracle drug for me in terms of severe depression. I felt completely normal and untroubled within 48 hours of starting on 10mg/day. Only problem was, I gained weight like crazy on it. But most people don't gain weight, so it's certainly worth a try.

What were your other symptoms besides depression? Atypical, melancholic, anxious?

No anxiety. I guess atypical/psychotic features. I slept all the time. I was suicidal. I heard voices telling me to kill myself.

Honestly, it was like I was taking a sugar pill. I noticed no effects that I can recall.

This would seem to suggest, if aripirazole is a dopamine level modulator, that your dopamine levels are pretty consistent. Does this seem accurate?

Dopamine is wellbutrin or not? If so that would explain why it upped me too much. Phillipa

Wellbutrin is more norepinephrine. Which physically causes increased BP and heart rate (fight or flight). It does cause some upregulation of dopamine, by seemingly not much.
