I added one 15mg Dexedrine spansule/day to my 75mgs of Nardil, and it is definitely helping. But I feel winded just climbing the stairs, like the lactic acid builds up extremely quickly with little exertion. Formal exercise is ok, though i feel much tighter than usual swimming laps. But simply drying myself off with a towel or walking a flight of stairs will flood my muscles with lactic acid. I also notice that there seems to be a lot of energy in my head, like I can feel pressure on my temples, and my facial muscles seem tight/constricted. Any recommendations (herbs/supplements etc.)? I've been on the Dex about a week. Does this diminish with time? Definitely NOT willing to give it up as it really helps the Nardil do its thing. Thanks....

I don't know anything about lactic acid. Could you tell me more about what it is? What it comes from? What it feels like? How long to go away on its own? And I'm curious, how do you know what you are feeling is lactic acid?

Especially since lactic acid builds up in the muscles after stenuous excercise and tends to go away once you excersice I'd also be curious to know. Phillipa

Hi Matt,
Don't know about lactic acid, but head sensations should disappear soon. I'll be interested to follow this thread. I haven't experienced the lactic acid build-up you describe myself.

Just one of many definitions of lactic acid. Many out there in cyber space. Phillipa

Hi Matt, I'm curious. I thought dex and Nardil are contraindicated. My pdoc told me I'd need to cut it out if I went on emsam, or at least take my blood pressure 4x per day (I think he said it was a blood pressure problem.)
How did you get someone to agree to this combo?
glad it's working for you (except for the lactic acid problem)!

If I was on Nardil or Parnate I'd be a bit leery of adding 15 of Dex to begin with.
How's your BP? Is that within normal limits?

First, I think adding dexedrine to MAOI's is pretty well accepted now. It needs to be watched/monitored but no longer seems crazy

And it was my understanding that the feelings in your legs don't relate to the dexedrine but rather to the MAOI. Have you recently increased the dose of Nardil?Unfortunately, while the feeling may diminish a bit, I don't think it ever goes away while on the MAOI

I'm wondering if what you are experiencing is really lactic acid build up since it is a normal response to unusual work of the muscle and it usually happens some hours after exercising. It sounds as though what you are experiencing following exertion immediately. Have you checked something like RxList to see if muscle stiffness or shortness of breath are side effects of the ampethamine?

PS Lactic acid build up should disipate with streching or additional load on your muscles eg more exercise. Doesn't sound like that is happening. You might Google lactic acid build up too and see if what you are experiencing conforms to the normal pattern.
