You are justified in wanting to be careful with memantine. It has been shown to produce psychosis in Parkinson's patients, although I don't know at what rate. Memantine acts as an agonist at postsynaptic D2 receptors (high affinity state) with approximately the same binding affinity as it has for NMDA receptors.

Don't take Namenda (memantine). I would agree here -- but then this is my own experience. We had tried it for memory improvement due to various possible factors, but when I got to 20mg, things went just "plain wrong", as if things weren't already complicated.

I don't fit into a category of psychosis, that's why its "NOS", but I would heed caution on this. I know you mentioned this months back but I don't think tinkering with something that at least is partially working is a good idea.

I agree to disagree on how Lamictal could possibly cause a permanent psychosis but anything is possible I suppose.

hi jeroen, I'm sorry to hear Lamictal made you feel worse. Were you stable on other meds before starting? The reason I ask is because the first time I tried it I also had symptoms of psychosis. I did not become permanent though. I wasn't stable when I started, my current doc says it should not be taken until already on SSRI+Benzo or other combos...herpills
