I've started imipramine, just 50mg a day so far and it's making me drowsy which isn't really a suprise but i was wondering what the chances are of this going away with time or with higher doses?

It should go away - completely. Well, it did for me, anyway. I don't think it will take more than a week. Give the 50mg a few more days. I don't think imipramine is like Seroquel or Remeron, where the higher the dosage, the less sedating they are. I was once on 450mg of imipramine. The doctors took their best shot. I am a rapid metabolizer, though. 200mg of desipramine will not put me in the therapeutic range.
Old shool rules of thumb:Mild depression: 75-125mg
Moderate depression: 150-200mg
Severe depression: 200-300mg

Try using a drug called bethanacol (Urecholine). It stimulates the parasympathetic nervious system and allows for a more forceful contraction of the muscles involved in urination. Your doctor should know all about this one. It has worked for me many times. Hopefully, the side effect will fade.
