I have lost my insurance & am currently being treated by my family practitioner. He isn't very familiar with Nardil, and started my dosage at 45 mg. I take 15mg 3xday. Now I'm increasing to 60 mg, and I am wondering should I take 2 doses, 30 mg each? Morning & night? Or should I break it up another way? I'd be interested in hearing from other current or past users of Nardil. Thank you!

Mickapoo,
I actually took my Nardil 4X per day when I was at 60 mg/day and 5X per day when I was at 75 mg/day. Strangely enough, it didn't seem like too much of a hassle at the time, although I did set alarms on my cell phone for each of the dosing times so I'd remember to take it when I needed to take it.
I've heard of patients splitting up their Nardil doses in different ways. From my perspective, I can't see why 30 mg twice a day would be a problem, but I could conceivably be missing something. I once read of someone taking all of their Nardil (I forget the dose) at night, so it makes sense that anything between that approach and my approach (taking it several times a day) would work.

There is no really concrete answer to this.
If the Nardil makes you feel tired during the day, then take it just before bed.
If the Nardil energizes you, then take it in the morning.
Please update us with how you are doing ...

For me, Nardil makes me tired during the day no matter when I take it, but if I took even part of my dose before bed, it gave me insomnia. So, for me splitting it between the morning (~8 or 9 am) and at midday (~3 or 4 pm), it eliminated the insomnia but still tired during day...
Agree with others---see how you react at different times of day and adjust accordingly after Dr consult.

I take 45mg twice a day - at breakfast and 2:00pm.
I remember feeling tired with Nardil early in treatment the first time I took it. Gradually, it became more and more stimulating.

I did exactly the same as Mickapoo and didn't have any time-of-day problems.
It's really not hard to get on four-a-day if you do it every day. I would just take out four pills first thing each morning and put them in a pill case -- well actually, I'd take one and put three in the case -- then take one whenever I went to the bathroom. It gets to be second nature.

> TomatheusThanks Tomatheus. I thought about the splitting it up into 4 doses, but I think I'd forget to take it. I do remember, like you, reading about someone taking it all in one dose at night.

Thanks everyone for your help. I guess I'll just experiment and try what works for me.
