Scared to dye hair on Lamictal

Posted by Quintal on May 7, 2008, at 17:31:40

I'm not sure whether it's a good idea with the skin sensitization issues. I dyed it blue-black (Schwarzkopf Live Color 'Cosmic Blue' http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0229199) back in February and now my blond-ish roots are coming through I'm starting to look like a badger. I was just going to let it grow out, but now I'm getting impatient. I suppose I could do one of those skin sensitivity tests on the inside of the elbow? It just seems like too much hassle. I've never done one for about 10 years.

I was afraid of scented soaps that first month, seriously anything will make you break out for some reason.

You don't want to look like a badger?

I quite like the badger look.

I think you're supposed to always, always do one anyway. Just see how that goes and dye/don't dye accordingly.

wow, I didn't think of this......

Vanity wins for me. :) And I had mild rashes titrating up on Lamictal. A skin test wouldn't hurt if you're feeling uncertain.

Hiya! I've been on Lamictal for over a year and dye my hair regularly - often Including bleaching and I've used the dye you are talking about and I've never had a problem - If you normally have quite sensitive skin then do a skin test but otherwise you shouldn't have a reaction

If you are still worried then still do a skin test!
Happy dyeing =]

I'm sitting here reeking of ammonia. So, I went ahead with it afterall. Didn't do a skin test because I've never had a reaction in the past. Now I have all-over shiny jet black hair :-) Gave myself a quick trim while I was at it.

Hows it going? I'm guessing no problems as you've not posted!
