Seriously don't know what is happening. But two years ago slept great on valium. then that pdoc put me on extremely high doses of xanax then ativan and I didn't sleep for three weeks. Now I'm on the same dose of valium that used to help and sleeping later and later with horrible nightmares and horrible thoughts and not knowing where I am kind of in the am. Can a benzo turn on you? Don't say call my pdoc she won't listen never does. Phillipa what should I do?????

-Phillipa....maybe your nightmares are withdrawl from Luvox. An antidepressant will help stop bad dreams and nightmares.
Best,
Jay

This is what happened, correct?: You took a regular dose for many years with success, then you started taking a higher dose which messed you up, then you switched back to the lower dose and it doesn't work.
Obviously the higher dose built up your benzodiazepine tolerance.
You need to reduce it.

All correct except now it's making me tired???? Used to perk me up. I'm sure I took 5mg less last night as there was a 5mg tablet in the bathroom but not sure as I get up during the night and take 5mg? So did I break a l0 or forget to take it? Oh well I'll never know. Phillipa

Phillipa,
Your psychiatrist (Pdoc) doesn't seem to be supporting you very well. I thought not long ago you saw somebody who was saying that there were lots of new exciting medications on the horizon, is this the same person?
You wanted to try provigil, they won't let you try that. You wanted to try ensam they won't let you try that, what do they suggest?

Is that all they can suggest? I know it must be difficult for them to know what to do but I would have thought they would have some more ideas???
Have you thought of switching to somebody else?
