I have been experiencing extreme periods of akathesia, while I am on no drugs.
Its a feeling like an extreme inner restlessness.
I can't sit still, or do one thing for more than a few minautes. Is there such a thing, my concentration is ok, I just need to moveing.

Yes, of course there's such a beast. It can be a symptom of anxiety, of hypomania, of hyperactivity, of any number of things. For me, it's often a sign of unrecognized anger, or of being too inactive.
And there are times it feels almost painful.
Hope that helps.

Well if it's anger or anxiety excercise really helps hence why I ride the bike 7.5 miles daily. It gets rid of both drug free too. Love Phillipa

the term 'akathisia' pre-dates neuroleptics and other akathisia-inducing drugs; its just been used to describe that syndrome a lot.
There used to be (maybe still is) an "akathitic depression". I think its like agitated depression, only it presents with more fidgetiness or something...anyway, that might be a good conceptualization of what you're dealing with.

Just curious, do you have bad allergies?
I have started taking Xanax full-time because of this new anxiety I have been having (I was also off drugs except for a 2 day trial w/ neurontin).
I had a coworker mention that she has to go on Prozac at this time every year because her anxiety gets so bad.
And as you probably know, allergies & depression are somehow mysteriously connected.

The problem with akathesia is that it is active and not passive.
Its a problem that constantly reminds you that it is there.
