Village Idiot syndrome

Posted by scratchpad on May 29, 2007, at 12:54:53

I'm finishing my second week of Zonegran for migraine prevention and mood stabilization, and I'm losing words. I can read and comprehend OK, but talking out loud is becoming a challenge. I know the words I want to use but can't seem to get them out of my brain and into and out of my mouth. I'd feel better if I was stuttering, even, but this is a completely lost connection. Currently I'm taking 50mg per day, split dose, and will be working up to 200mg per day. I'm also experiencing muscle weakness :-(

Does this get better or should I invest in a pocket thesaurus?

Darn, meant to put this on meds board (nm)

Yes, it's like that. I know what I want to say but can't get the words out. I just want to know if it will improve or if this is life on Zonegran. And if that's the case maybe I will buy a thesaurus, because it sure is great not to have any headaches.

So no conversations at all? How will you shop and talk to your husband and call the kitty? Love Phillipa

sounds eerily similar to topamax dear, without the ssss-stttt-stuuutttterring issues.

are you able to find the words, say anywhere from 2 minutes to 3 days later?

understanding where you're coming from (and no problems spitting that out dear),

your fellow village idiot (though we certainly aren't!!!),

That happens to me too. It didn't used to, but it seems to happen more frequently now.

I usually make a joke about it and say I am having a little stroke, but it is frustrating for me and the person I am talking to.

I take prozac and an occasional klonopin

I don't know what causes it, but I DO wish it would stop
