I have been taking Lithium 600mg sid, Lamictal and cannot stop eating. My appetite is ferocious!! I used to weigh 125lbs 6 months ago. After being on a whole slew of drugs (effexor i think was the culprit) I now weigh 145 lbs. Anyone know of a over the counter herb or diet pill I can take??

It will take away your appetite, flush toxins from your digestive system and cause you to lose weight.

Are you still on Effexor? Effexor made me eat constantly. Lithium or Lamictal shouldn't cause you to have such an appetite. Don't mess around with diet pills, because all they do is increase your heart rate, and that can't be good for you. Water and exercise is the best. I found it helped to keep a veggie tray around, that way I had something healthy around that was easy to snack on.

Korean pine nuts are interesting.
I don't know if they are the same pine nuts as the usual sort.

I completely know what you mean!
Since I started taking Psych drugs I crave sweet Carbs.
I think Refined Carbs are the worst kind of food, by the way.Anyway I've tried drinking lots of water, for me it doesn't help much :( although I still do it.
Korean Pine Nuts sound interesting-I wish there was some way of getting hold of a Leptin product.
Can't find one anywhere.

I have also noticed that I am still having nausea 21/2 weeks into it, stomach aches, very hormonal still. I thought this was all related to my upcoming period but I am still yet to have one. I took a preg test and no pregnancy. I surely DO NOT want to be pregnant But I am not currently on bc due to hormonal stuff. Can either Lamictal or Lithium effect your period? Since starting the lithium My stomach feels like someone has been kicking me. I am starting to get a little nervous about my period. I felt that most of my symptoms were related to pms but still waiting! I have also been on Lamictal for 3-4 months. Should I have a blood test?
Thanks for everyones help!

I don't believe that lamictal is known for weight gain and I'm not aware of a blood test but there could be one. There is for lithium. Love Phillipa

Here's a blurb on them from LEF.
A natural plant extract discovered in Europe has been found to dramatically suppress appetite without stimulatory effects. Extracted from the nuts of the Korean pine, (Pinus koraiensis), pinolenic acid stimulates the release of two of the body's most powerful hunger suppressing hormones: CCK (cholecystokinin) and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1).*2 This not only helps the body digest fats better, but also sends a feeling of satiety or "fullness" to the brain, decreasing the desire to eat and helping to control excessive calorie intake.*

Where can you find these? At a health food store?
I walked almost 2 miles w/2 year old in stroller and I felt great afterwards. Now if I could just stick to it. Problem is that I am not real good at sticking to things but exercise could be the key for all around feel good. It sure is a lot cheaper. That is if you like trails.Pearlcat.
