Hi all
Could the following combination of drugs be problematic?
Zoloft 50 mg / day
Wellbutrin SR 150 mg / day
SJW 330 mg / dayI have been taking this combo for 5 days now. I woke up yesterday night with the following:
shivering, clattering teeth, throbbing headache, racing pulse, tinnitus, numbness / pins and needles in my arms and legs
I felt like I was dying (not that I know how it feels, of course) and I have decided for the time being to halt all my medication until I have greater clarity of what might have happened. I suspect Wellbutrin or SJW as the culprit. I am 25 years old and generally in good health.
Tx, Klavot

Hey Klavot, we're on the same combo, though I have taken 300mg of Wellbutrin for a few days now and no SJW. You have two serotonin boosting meds, Zoloft and SJW. I would say leave out SJW and see how you are doing with Zoloft-Wellbutrin.

I don't think you're supposed to take ST John's wart with another SSRI. Love Phillipa

> Tx, KlavotI think you did the right thing by stopping the meds. I wasn't clear though whether you started all the meds at the same time or whether you just added sjw to the other meds?
It's my hunch those were not side effects, but instead significant dangerous interactions. Serotonin syndrome for example (not sure that's what it was, but it could have been) is dangerous and it is possiblte to die rapidly from it.
Zoloft with wellbutrin, even in double or triple the doses you are taking, is common. So I doubt it was the wellbutrin/zoloft combo, though it is remotely possible. But sjw, that's a different story. That herb is so mysterious. And from brand to brand you never know what to expect. It can do very strange things mixed with other meds, even in low doses.
I've tried sjw several times over the years and I have found it has very strange, worrisome, and sometimes scary effects mixed with meds.
I can't give advice. But if it were me, I would stay off meds for 2 days to clean out, then restart zoloft at 25mg for 3 days, and then go to 50mg, and then not add wellbutrin for a week or more. Mainly to see what does what. But I would stay away from putting sjw in the mix.
You had a scare. I can sure understand. Been there done that. SJW might be fine by itself for some people, and it is sometimes fine mixed with other meds, but in my own trials with it I have to say it was dangerous and scary.
