Thanks actually I'd suggested 5mg of prozac to my pdoc and she didn't buy it . I'm now planning on this endocrinologist referral as all my symtoms started when my thyroid went hypo about ll years now ago. My new theapist thinks this may all be physical and not mental as inside I have no reason to be depressed or anxious other than feeling that way. Love Phillipa

Afa Prozac, it once worked for me but only w/ a benzo attached. And, that is one in particular that did never work for me again. Can you take Paxil w/o it causing some anxiety?

That's so funny! I've found that SSRI's only work for me when used with a benzo-I took Paxil with 1 mg Xanax for the best three years of my life! Then I decided I didn't need the Xanax, withdrew from that and the Paxil "didn't work". I think what really happened was that I shouldn't have gotten rid of the Xanax; I say that because I started taking Prozac a few months ago and it didn't work (for panic disorder) until I started taking some Xanax and then poof! it worked great at as low as 5 mg (I'm taking 15 mg now).
But in answer to your question, I found Paxil very stimulating, unlike Prozac. Which is exactly opposite of the rest of the civilized world's experience. :>} That's why I needed the Xanax with it...

I was thinking about the same thing like night too, ... 'well those ADs R nothing w/o a benzo'! Why don't they just make up a combo!?
I wonder, now that I'm on Valium 3x a day, if Celexa (My sis-in-law, a nurse, suggested Celexa or Lexapro.) or Paxil would be something to think about.
I tried Paxil in the past alongside Xanax of course. Something was wrong ... can't recall. Wonder how it or Celexa would work w/ Valium.
I must stay on that benzo. Tried switch to Xanax, but had a near onset 'nervous system' breakdown ... quickly curtailed by the Valium I had on hand, thank goodness!

I tried it once and for some reason d.c.'d it.
At this time I am different and on a different benzo, so it would have a different affect, I think.

That's interesting-when I first took Xanax, I found it very stimulating-which went away in about a week. maybe has to do with the presumed antidepressant effect of Xanax.

The odd thing for me is that Xanax can be stimulating in a way that makes me less anxious-bushy-tailed, not fearful.

I think we're both on similar meds.
If it were 'your first experience w/ a benzo', it would be understandable. But, it not being, there must be something else going on.
Have you cross-referenced w/ your other meds on net? Maybe use the search words fatigue, benzodiazepine, and then whatever med/meds UR on.
Hope can get to the bottom of this.

You're taking Valium, and that's about all that Valium does for me...makes me sleepy. Even at 30 mg, I don't see any less anxiety, but I am feeling a bit sleepy...

Any suggestions? It works for sleep and the xanax does nothing during the day. And klonopin depresses me so what's left? I liked ativan was on 6mg this pdoc would never go for that. Love Phillipa

6 mg Ativan (in theory, the equivalent of 3 mg/day of Xanax) isn't huge, especially since you having so many problems with anxiety now. Tell you doc that. Tell him if he doesn't give you a prescription, I'll let the air out of his tires while he's at work. :>}

Whose taking 30mg Val? That much at once WOULD put me right to sleep.
And, Ativan is the drug all the young mothers are taking. No reason a P shouldn't allow that one.

ps: I guess I'm 'addicted' to Eff-XR. Felt SO HORRIBLE yesterday. Took 75mg and am better already! It's a weird sort of addiction, I think.(?) Can't get into a thread. I'm sorta' confused this morn. Best get my coffee goin'.

Began thread in 'giving up' attitude. But, bad things still lie ahead of me in my life, and w/ that in mind, I'm back on Eff-XR. I have 'a need' and in my position, it is the only choice I can make. Alternatives are great I could afford them. An IRL support system is great, if I had one. My choice as of yesterday afternoon, is to remain on AD for now.

Or, Phillipa, maybe time for a 'short-acting' and 'long-acting' together (I've very perplexed at your sleepy reaction to the benzos. Can recall 4sure how long you've been on one. I believe, if we've been on one for a long period of time, we will probably need to remain on one ... (infinity)
Afa ADs, I almost don't want to suggest, but consider Eff-XR? My first time on it, I took the plain ones, not XR, tablets. They would be a good way to 'try it out'.
Maybe you're tryin' Ensam?
I wish you 'more comfort' and less 'sleepy tiredness'. The right benzo or combo benzo shouldn't work that way.
If UR not getting enough sleep at night, this might be the culprit, so you need something for sleep, ... I've been on Soma, trazodone, Restoril. Currently on Lyrica and Soma. (Forgot my Soma last eve and didn't wake until 11a ... maybe it's the 'ear plug addiction.(?)
I've noticed when on Eff-XR, am more tired and sleep more at night. The drug is stimulating during day. Maybe that stimulation 'moves me' and I actually sleep better for that reason.
I think you want to 'get out'/'feel more alive', and will literally pray you find a way.
Sorry if throwing out too much info in funky fashion.

O.K., she's an older woman. All the better. She'll have trouble jacking up the car and replacing 4 flat tires, that just HAPPEN to have occurred at the same time. Maybe you'll have to tell her you took a new job with the Social Security administration and if she doesn't give you the script for the Ativan, you may "accidentally" make a mistake on her benefits...:>}
