Last night I went to a graduation party and had quite a bit to drink, I also did not get much sleep which of course is not going to help....but stricly speaking from the alcohol perspective, is it common for alcohol to give a depressed feeling the following day?
Thanks

yep. I notice depressed mood the day after even before I had major depression. While I've had MDD, a few drinks makes me a recluse couch potato with no will the next day afterwards.
Now with the meds, I get a crazybad hangover, so I try not to drink more than one, get enough sleep and drink lots of water
my poor liver :(

> ThanksI don't know about the day after, but I can tell you that one of the first things I noticed when my mental illness became more severe was that I would become extremely depressed during the actual act of drinking. I've since learned to stay away from alcohol.

> ThanksAlcohol has always been a depressant for me. I have about an hour's worth of Woo Hoo time followed by 18-24 hours of physical and emotional misery. AND, if I really over-imbided, I was one of those annoying crying drunks. Drinking Party days have been over for me a while for many GOOD reasons. I have found I can still enjoy myself - it's amazing how entertaining watching others can be...

~~~ I felt annoyed with MYSELF being a crying drunk ---- I'm just covering that perhaps not all crying over-imbiders are annoying.
~~~ No, I think your reaction is probably more typical in many, many folks, thus the appeal. I'm actually glad for my reactions to alcohol - well, not when I'm going through it - because my few moments of "Woo Hoo" to any degree does make me aware of the temptation it could have if there wasn't an obvious h*ll to pay in the aftermath. Plus, at some point, I also figured I was tough enough on my liver functions.

Truth be told when I was put on chloral hydrate for sleep I was told not to drink as it would cause a Mickey Finn but before that my pdoc had no problem with the corona. Been alchohol free for l0years now and I know if I started drinking again I would probably be an alchoholic. Love Phillipa ps that's why I say don't drink on meds and acturally more than on meds or not is not good. Love Phillipa
