Hi all
this is my 10th day on 20mgs of Parnate
10mg in morning 10mg at 3pm
Its really making me tired even at this dosage!
This is apparently a fairly common effect of Parnate
It really annoying though, if it makes me tired at this dose, how will I cope with higher doses.Does anyone have any idea of what helps with the fatigue?

Suprisingly I'm sleeping quite well
I expected horrible insomnia from Parnate! Not dreaming much, which is a good thing
When I'm depressed I get horrible dreams!

> Does anyone have any idea of what helps with the fatigue?Hi Tom,
I've been on Parnate for almost 3 mos. now and it's working great for me. I also experienced the fatigue big time to the point where i thought about going off of it. By the way, i'm on a very high dose 150mgs a day. Anyway, when i complained to my pdoc about the fatigue (He's an excellent doc) he told me that it would pass with time, that to just be patient. I agreed to stay with it and try to be patient, even though deep down i really didn't believe him. Well, he was right, it took about 3 wks. but the fatigue is now gone...Thank God!Ed asked you how you are sleeping, and i ask the same question because if you aren't sleeping enough this could be part of the reason for the fatigue. If you are sleeping okay, then i say be patient and it should pass as it has for me. One more thing, I strongly recommend that you don't start adding other meds to combat the fatigue...if it lasts too long then perhaps adding something will help, but i really think if you just hang in there it will pass with time. Feel free to ask me anything about Parnate..it is the best AD i've ever taken in my 25 yrs. with this illness, and believe me, i've tried nearly all of them. Good luck Tom!

The parnate fatigue has not subsuded with me,at first caffiene tabs helped then i became A immune to that,as well as B obviously too much caffiene counteracts the benifit of a anti-anxiety medication.
I have also been on ritalin/parnate combo and its not a way to go in my view on beating fatigue.
What kills me about the parnate fatique is it hits u pretty hard around 3 pm,then at around 12 am when u want it to hit it seems to active part of the drug kicks in as im having to take ambien and parnate causes me bad sleep disturbances.I do think its one of the best ADS as far as they go,but im more and more becomming convinced that every single one of them has been made with little scieance and they are not doing the job, personaly aside from parnate which can induce euphoia even in healthy people,i dont believe im impressed with a single anti depressant out there.

I had similar fatigure pattern with both Parnate & Nardil - very sleepy in early afternoon - would need a 1 hour nap under my desk (although it wasn't exactly sleepiness I was feeling - just overwhelmng fatigue). Then I would brighten up, only to "crash" again around 7pm. A 15 minute "nap" would help revive me, then I'd be active into the evening.
SOmetimes I would wake up around 5am unfortunately.
I never found a cure for this side effect except discontinuing the MAOIs. I'm curious to try EMSAM.
Good luck!

As one other poster said, my fatigue disappears after a few weeks also. I've been on and off Parnate for most of my life and it's the only thing that's worked.
Hang in there and see if the fatigue passes. The last time I got back on it, it took about six weeks for the fatigue to pass, but I've had it disappear faster. Some of this is due to dosage I'm sure.
Good luck.
