Other than Tegretol?
Works great for my depression, but the uncontrollable hunger kills me.
What is most similar? Lamictal? Both work on sodium channels, right?

Apart from Tegretol, Lamictal is probably the most similar to Trileptal.

Zonegran is another drug that comes to mind. It is a relatively clean drug and does not produce weight gain. That was my experience with it. Zonegran has not been studied as well as Lamictal for depression. I would probably go with Lamictal if your chief complaint is depression. Most people take 200mg.
Be sure to use the Lamictal starter pack or follow the manufacturer's recommended titration schedule.
25mg x 2 weeks
50mg x 2 weeks
100mg x 1 week
200mg maintenance

If you could guess, how much lamictal would equal 600mg trileptal? Probably the starting doses?
I'm so bummed, trileptal works great, just the uncontrollable hunger is a killer.
I have taken lamictal before, so i don't fear the rash. I could start at 50 easily.
I felt AD effects on 50, but later had to chase it up. Anxiety was a problem for me, but i was not willing to stay on a anti-depressant.
I am now on week 3 of paxil, little results yet, if not worse.Regards,
