LOL! Yes I did! That's why I call them my happy pills because they smile at me!

I don't know why. Is Nifedipine better?

Oh boy, it's going hard with the eating. But I never lost weight on Parnate before.

> Also - you mentioned eating 200 calories. You need to be very, very careful with anorexia nervosa and Parnate. It is no joke. Back in October, Parnate's appetite-suppressing & amphetamine-like effects triggered a relapse into anorexia for me. I lost weight very rapidly (& began abusing the drug - upping the dose when the "speed-like" effect wore off). One night, I developed very severe orthostatic hypotension with syncope. I could not stand up and, when I tried, had a seizure. My blood pressure was so low that I should not have been alive. The doctor told me that this was the direct result of taking Parnate and being at a very low weight & engaging in restricting behavior. Please be careful.

Don't worry Maximus, I will be careful. Promise. Hey I managed to stop taking the ephedra.

You are very kind.

Hi

Well I backed down to 10 mg today. I think I will stay at that for a few days before going up to 20 mg or 30 mg. I've waited this long, I might as stay safe.

nifedipine or Thorazine (chlorpromazine)

My doc is going to give me Thorazine for hypertensive crisis too Maxime. I have heard conflicting information on nifedipine v. chlorpromazine. I figure chlorpromazine is just fine though, so long as it works. It's not like it's something one takes on a regular basis...

looking forward to my Parnate happy pills (next week!)

Good plan Maxime. I feel bad that I kind of encouraged a more aggressive start, I'm sorry. Just take it slow and easy...it'll work. :)

I took 20 mg today and felt no side effects. Already people are telling me that I sound more upbeat on the phone. That's a good sign.

I know it's only going to get better!

You are going to be a great responder to the med, I can tell. A positive attitude will take you far and in a short time you will find that the Parnate will take over and your positive attitude will be permanent.

Keep us informed. You're helping a lot of people the more you post!

I am now at 30 mg. The only side effect I am experience, is clumsiness. This happened when I was the med before. I would go hiking and fall a lot. But I just have to be careful.

I haven't had anymore hypertensive experiences and I don't plan on having anymore.

I think the positive thing about Parnate is that it energises you. So your depression may be addressed yet, but you have more energy which can make you feel more positive and hopeful.

Hi
Because of the dizziness yesterday, I dropped my dosage back down to 20 mg, just to be on the safe side.

I don't want to rush things.

I remember last year when I did hiking in Vermont and New York state, I wouldn't take my Parnate that day because it did make me a little dizzy and very clumsy.

I still feel the same energy though, which is good. Today I am going bike riding!

It's great that the Parnate is starting to work. The bike ride is a great idea :)

I'm glad you're being cautious too. I want you to be safe :)

Talked to the pharmacist today and answered my own question. Nifedipine works well to lower blood pressure, but Thorazine works better to calm you down. It's all kind of a question of what the doc is more familiar with, usually, and they both work. Since I will likely be prone to a lot of anxiety if I have a hypertensive crisis, I'm fine with my pdoc prescribing Thorazine.

I feel awful.

Maxime,

Sweetie, you know you really shouldn't keep starting it and stopping it like that. Did you call your pdoc? I really think you should. You could use a saline nasal spray for your cold. You don't have to take a decongestant.

Sorry you feel so miserable!

Hugs,

Hi Maxie

You must not take any decongestants or cough supressants for a least 2 weeks after your last dose of Parnate. Please be careful.

30 mg of Parnate. But then I took some ephedra. I know, I am playing with fire, but you have to understand the strong hold that anorexia has on me.

I didn't feel hypertensive or anything ... just really speedy. I am going to try and stay away from it. But it's hard. You have no idea.

I have a job interview tomorrow. I wonder how it will go?

Maxie I don't care how broke you are you are definitely not ready to go back to work . Depression and the eating disorder . The ehpedra call the ER Please. Your life is more important and stress over a job interview is probably fueling it. Love Jan

Maxime,

I don't like the way you sound. I'm really worried about you. You are not being the careful, deliberate person I know you can be. You said you have a horrible cold. This message mentions no cold at all just the fear of gaining weight as the reason you took the ephedra?

PLEASE call your doctor and tell him what is going on. I really DO care!

I am okay. I just can't sleep. It's 3:30 in the morning. I feel no effect from the ephedra. Really, no need to worry. I took the ephedra because I am a big fat pig.
