I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with using a TCA for ADHD, inattentive type?
I've read that TCA's can cause arrythmias in overdose, but in general do they cause less peripheral stimulation than psychostimulants?
Thanks for reading.

I've been on nortriptyline a long, long time and if it's ever helped with inattention, it hasn't been by a long shot. Been on it an methylphenidate at the same time and had my head cleared but my doc wanted me off the ritalin because my heart rate was so high. Oh well.

I heard of people finding Desipramine helpful for inattention
I imagine Protryptaline might also work
There both quite selective for Noradrenaline, although they also have anti colligenic affects.
Having mentioned these I haven't had any experience with them.
What about Strattera or Reboxitine?

Thanks for the info...
Strattera didn't work and made me very depressed and lethargic (not to mention the liver warning concerns me).
I'm not sure if Reboxetine is available in the US. Do you know if it would likely have any advantages over Strattera?

Desipramine is apparantly sometimes helpful for inattention.

Both desipramine and maprotiline (Ludiomil) are supposed to be good for treating inattention. If you have the choice, I'd take desipramine because maprotiline/Ludiomil can cause severe weight gain and other adverse effects.
This is the end of the thread.
