>As a drug, its pretty benign.. more than 900mgs or so at a time and you're simply dumping $ through elimination from the body.
When one first takes it, or at least from my experience, it is at its most powerful and can contribute to an immedicacy of anxiolytic performance. It also causes slurred speech to begin with and a host of other benign effects.
But for long term use, it really doesn't have a lot of effect unless combined with whatever dose of your favourite benzodiazepine you are currently on, in my opinion. Its an additive. Your body may be different but I've heard this story before at least once.

Neurontin was a strange drug for me. If I took it at night when I already relataively calm, it mellowed me and made me kind of groggy but in a pleasant sort of way. If I took it during the day, when I was very anxious, it did nothing at all.The first few days I took it (at bedtime) I was groggy in the morning and tired all day but that passed after the first few days.
I have a friend who takes a Cymbalta Neurontin combo and is doing very well on it long term.
