Hi Jennifer,
For many people on this board Effexor has definitely caused weight gain. NOT for everybody, though. I took Effexor for several years and I didn't gain weight at all. In fact, it helped a lot to control my eating disorder (bulimia).
It's different for everyone. The only way to know is to try it and see. But, as Phillipa suggested, there is a lot of info here on it. Try searching "effexor weight gain" on this site.

> MarsahThanks for that info guys, it's hard to tell if I have actually gained weight specifically from that or quitting smoking and having a child and never loosing weight before I started it, which was when my son was like 4 months. One thing is for sure , that it has helped stablize my moods and I was considering getting off of it to loose weight now that I have decided to really try. It's funny because ever week when I watch "the biggest loser" it motivates me even more and shows me that there are all different types of people that can do it.
Thanks
Jen
