Not to sound superficial but I have concerns about gaining weight on anti-depressants. I have done my research BUT would like to know what the experiences of others are?
I need to drop about 20 pounds, not looking Effexor to do it for me but don't want more added on....

> I need to drop about 20 pounds, not looking Effexor to do it for me but don't want more added on....I have never gained weight from any of the following: Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, Paxil, Effexor or Cymbalta. In fact I lost weight on Celexa, Lexapro and Effexor.
I have a feeling I'd have gained if I'd stayed on Zyprexa or Remeron. Or rather I wouldn't have gained, I'd have starting being bulimic again.

I also noticed I was gaining weight over the years and the most effective thing I've done so far is cut my lexapro down to the minimal therapeutic dose of 5mg. instead of 10mg. I also kept jogging too but antidepressants screw with my appetite so hard! I hated it because I'm a compulive eater and SSRI's have never helped with that when they're actually supposed to help with that.

I was on Lexapro for 6 weeks and lost 5 pounds.
Not sure if that helps or not.
I tried Wellbutrin and felt like I was on serious speed- I couldn't eat (or sleep) for four solid days.
So if you like that feeling- wellbutrin might work.
