in 2002 i was taking phenetermine and paxil. the weight dr told me it was ok to take. i took those two i started hearing voices to break my youngest son neck. i h ave 3 other children but i was only hearing voices for my youngest son. of course i didnt do it i love my son so much so i went to mhmr and they put me on zoloft 50mg and that helped for about 2 years. about 8 months ago i went to a psychiatrist and he put me on 100mg of zoloft but that made things worst. so i went to another dr and he put me on effexor xr-75mg and risperdal. well the effexor made my blood pressure go up. so i went to another dr and he put me on lexapro and seroquel. the lexaspro seems to be working but i would hear things. the risperdal mad e me have nightmare. so i was put on seroquel. i was at first scared to take it but i took it last night and i like it but it made so tired in the morning but the voices have decreased. i also have social anxiety is there another med i can take with seroquel to make me feel happy all the time my son lives with my parents. i am able to control the voices. i love my son so much. please give some advice

I have had the depths of fear of losing my mind. I have panic attacks if just one abnormal throught will come. Run to a doctor and get THORAZINE!

Anyways, it is very good of you that you still love your sons. That is very moral. I understand that the circumstances.

Have you ever taken Zyprexa before, it comes 5, 10, 15, 20mg Tablets. I take 2.5mg for mood stablizer. Ask your doctor about it. It will have less side effects than Risperdal. If the Seroquel helps stay with.

Have you ever had a psychotic thought? i am curious becuase i have always had a phobia of going insane.

Take Care

Why do you change doctors each time a med doesn't work? Perhaps staying with the same one would be more effective? Just a thought.

Maybe you just need a lower dosage of Seroquel. If depression is a problem Risperdal can help.

Have you tried any of the Tricyclic Antidepressants? I found that desipramine cut my anxiety significantly. However, I should say that I've only taken it in combo w/ an SSRI (lexapro).

Are you hoping to stop the seroquel? Do you have any psychotic symptoms, or do you just take it to help w/ anxiety?

Best,
EE

klonopin worked good for my anxiety. people seem to take doses from .5 up to 3mgs a day. i took it once a day at night, some take it in split doses. klonopin is great for anxiety, but if you have depression you will probably need to find the right anti depressant to take with it. it's one the most affective meds for anxiety. the other med that works for both anxiety and depression is Nardil. many docs stay away from it because they don't know how to perscribe it. if you look at the posts you can get a lot of ino on it if you're currious. ive never tried it, but have thought about it real hard.

perhaps you could try a mood stabilizer that also works has anti anxiety/anti depressant properties. i'm trying Lyrica now, but to soon to see how affective it is. i can feel it stabilizing my mood though. sounds like that might be of help to you.

What are you being treated for?

Have you tried Effexor? It is a drug that is known to treat both depression and anxiety disorders at the same time. You might not need the Klonopin after you respond to it.

Yes. This combination of drugs is one that might work well for you. However, you might have to change the Effexor for another drug for the blood pressure.

Is your diagnosis "psychotic depression"?

Nortriptyline + Seroquel might work.
Wellbutrin + Seroquel might work.

This isn't so much about the medications, which someone else here knows more about, but just about getting quicker and more helpful responses: if you put something about your question in the subject line, it's easier for people here to know whether they have anything to offer or not, so there's more chance of people reading and answering.

I hope that helps.

You say that you have visual hallucinations but you mention hearing voices. Do you have both?

I'm not sure to which degree I can help as I only have visual hallucinations with the depression.

Back when I was still determined to kill the hallucinations I took Effexor (300mg) and Seroquel (50 or 100mg ... can't remember). It was great to make me much calmer and made me sleep all the time. It also had the nice side effect of making me lose weight and removed all the visual stuff. But in the end it was too sedating for me and I stopped.

I've since learned to live with the visual stuff.

But just because it didn't work out for me doesn't mean that it won't work for you. I was initially diagnosed with chronic major depression with psychotic features. Turns out that yes I'm depressed but I have schizoid pd and never was psychotic ... hence why all the APs were so sedating on me. I think auditory hallucinations tend to be a stronger indicator of psychosis than visual ones.

If your diagnosis is accurate it might work well for you. It's really hard for others to help you because nobody has the exact same situation / body / diagnosis / medical conditions.

Take care.
