my support system is pretty good for the most part. My hubby doesn't seem to get it when I can't do something or get frustrated by simple things.
I'm not familar with this adavan business but it seemed to knock the anxiety out quickly. My heart rate was 118 and all I could do was pace. It sucks. There was NOTHING that triggered it at all. I just feel totally overwhelmed by the simplest of things, like what to dress the kids in for their bible club. I know in my head that's supid but at the same time feel over-whelmed.
thanks so much for listening to me. I really appreciate the advice.

I know what you mean it is called free floating anxiety and when you tea pot is full it comes out at every little thing. I know it is hard to think about it but a brisk walk daily or just some quiet prayer time may help. I am 49 years old and I lay down infront of the washer and dryer if I am really anxious and spend time with the Healer. The noise of the machines causes me to relax. Just some thoughts. Hang in there! A lot of us suffer the same things. My wife and kids joke that when Daddy is stressed out the clean clothes are endless.

Sorry if it's confusing here, but I'd like to redirect follow-ups regarding weaning to Psycho-Babble Withdrawal. Here's a link:

I am not on menapause but I do get the hot flashes. They come with the least amount of stress or just because they wany to. I have been on Prozac and Zoloft and both were great in their time but then a huge stress event would hit and I get depressed and switched. I got up to 225mg of Effexor XR and the constipation etc... got too much. Started to drop back to 150mg last Friday got hit pretty hard but the Dramamine Less Drowsy really helps with the hangover effect. Will drop to 75mg this Friday and go up on my Wellbutron till it replaces the Effexor. I am still having some anxiety and depression but see the light at the end of the tunnel. (HOPE ITS NOT A TRAIN)!

Today I saw my Doctor, a well informed one at that, about adding wellbutrin along with my effexor xr to combat the side effects I have experienced. She agreed that it may be what I need to "boost" my sex life a bit. I started today at 150 mg. wellbutrin, along with the 150 I take already of effexor xr. Hopefully the side effects of the wellbutrin will be minimal, which is what my Dr. expects. We talked at great length about the 2 meds, and she is very helpful, compassionate, and also careful. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has taken this combination as to what they have experienced. (a message to "TinMan", hang in there, I think I know what your going through, and I'm thinking about you. This thread has also been a godsend for me, I thought I was lost for a long time.)

I am taking 300 Wellbutrin and 150 Effexor. Still not quite at the right dosage--but the wellbutrin does help. My pdoc suggests that I may need to increase to 450 Wellbutrin. I have to agree with that-- I think I'm on the right track.... two steps forward, one step back, kind of a thing going on with me.

Hey, thanks for your words of support. So far, so good on reducing the dose of Effexor from 225 to 150 mg. I did have a mild panic attack this a.m. but knowing that it was a withdrawal symptom, I am okay.
Please let me know how you do on the Wellbutrin/Effexor combo. My Dr. does not want to put more AD's into my system, which is good BUT, I do want a sex life!

Hi. I didn't get hypotension but it did lower my blood pressure a little from maybe 120/80 down to 105/65. I was only taking 37.5mg though. So it is definitely possible.

OK guys and gals ready for a ride? I will take my last Effexor XR on Saturday and be off Wellbutrin by Sept.12th. Going to go med free for a change (God willing). Have been on meds for over 12 years and I want to see if all I learned about depression, anxiety and OCD can be put to use. I rely alot on support from folks just like you and know we can survive! Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I am sure I will be checking in but will not take Effexor again (God willing!!!!!) Danny

Tinman there is a saying among the guys on one of my other links (Do IT Depressed)(Do It Anxious) or (Do It Affraid). You get the point. I know how you feel about the lack of sex-drive on the Effexor. For me it was a God send because thats all my mind would think about. The Effexor took it away as well as my desire. But as the above phrases say I went through the motions and the drive was restored thanks to my loving wife. We may not desire to do somethings but don't stop because the feelings will follow. Good luck and see you on the other side of Effexor. Danny

My doc has me on 500mg of Lamictal which is not working too well. He wants to put me on Effexor. At what dosage should I begin?

After two years on cerzone it wasn't working. I've been on Effexor several months and it had quickly restored some happiness in life.
For me, each med seems to work for a few months or years and then doesn't. Maybe someday they can take a bloodtest and tell us what will work for each of us. Until then we have to work through the list and see which one works and which ones don't.
Good luck and if Effexor doesn't work for you, then tell your Dr and try something else. Something will.

Well I took my last 75mg. of Effexor XL on Saturday. From 225 to 0 in 2-3 weeks and boy what a noise in my head. I can hear my eyes move. Will be off Welburtin by Thursday so I guess I will be leaving this site soon. Had to take Dramimene and Benedrayl yesterday from seasickness. Keep me in your prayers. I am eating everything in sight.

Effexor XR has worked the best so far and i've been on several meds.. My doc started me at 37.5mg for a week, then upped me to 75mg which wasnt helping so then 150mg and 225mg. I never took the 225mg but im about to start tomorrow. I do have to take 2-3 mg of klonopin daily though b/c effexor tends to make me feel edgy. Its worth a try.

I just started effexor XR (on second dose of 75mg). Has anyone had any heart related ailments? I had a heart attack and bypass surgery about 3 months ago. I'm taking beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, Klonopin and Xanax as well as the effexor. I don't know how I am standing erect, but I am hoping that I can start getting over my GAD since the anxiety is not helping my overall pschye as well as my heart condition. I was also wondering if anyone had any experiences with their heart that they want to share.
Thank you all for posting. Reading them has made me feel I am far from alone in this struggle.

Yes, every once in a while, my heart feels like it is *racing*, too. My BP seems to be lower, though. Interesting side effects. -TinMan

Why back on Effexor? Was it the best for you? If I go back on meds I hope it ain't Effexor. What are you taking it for if I can Ask? Danny
