Hyper from Trileptal?

Posted by TrishP on May 27, 2005, at 12:19:53

Is it possible that Trileptal is making me a little hyper? Not really manic but almost. Or is the Trileptal just making me really happy?

I take 900mg now and I've never noticed a slow down from Trileptal, I've always thought it made me hyper. The only thing that slows me down so far is the Buspar. Anyone else have this experience?

Anything is possible when it comes to meds. :-) Trileptal made me sleepy when I first started. Then it went away in a couple of weeks.

I just started taking it (now at 600mg) i am not hyper, but i do feel nervous and i have to take a klonopin to calm down. And it is making me sleepy but i think that should go away.

How are you doing on Trileptal other than being sleepy? ARe you feeling better? My daughter seems to be less hostile, and dealing with things a little better these days taking it. Have you gained any weight on it? -L

I am feeling better I think*...I feel normal and havent had any depression or suicidal thoughts..so thats good. I havent been on it long enough to know about the weight gain. I do think it makes me hungry though, so you have to watch out for that. I try to consume very little calories during the week, because weekends are hard.....

You are taking a high dosage aren't you? My daughter only takes 75mg per night, so I don't think it's doing that much just yet. She's just calmer, and I think the doctor will increase her medication up to 150 when she sees him on Friday. I will let you know. -L

I dropped back down to 600mg at night. It helps me sleep great. If I take anything more it just messes up my hormones (bleed all the time), and I need to take my hormones beause they help even out my crazy mood. No matter how much I go up on my does of hormones, I still bleed.

I also think the Wellbutrin could be agitating me a little. I am trying Buspar along with the Wellbutrin and Trileptal to see if that takes away some of the anxiety.

I am also trying to find a differnt mood stabilizer that won't cause weight gain.

I haven't had any weight gain from the Trileptal - I'm just not sure its a real strong mood stabilizer.
