Thank you CK1

Hi

I just want to thank you for posting about Advair. Even though I was taking a high dose, I did not taper. I just stopped taking it. Within about 4 days my irritability reduced dramatically.

The best part is that I have been able to restart my Panate WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS! I am up to 40 mg and it won't be long until I get to my 80-100mg dosage. I am even able to take an afternoon dose of dexedrine with it (yes they contraindicated). Back in January when my doctor doubled my Advair, I started to feel worse. I tried Nardil and became very ill. Then I waited and when I restarted the Parnate I couldn't take more than 10 mg without getting sick.

My muscle soreness is slowly going away as well. The only side effect that remains is my extreme tiredness.

When I see my GP in June I am going to ask to try Singulair. I hope it works.

How are you feeling now that you are no long taking the Advair?

Maxime

Maxime,

Glad you are back. I really missed you. Maybe being off the asthma med and back on the other meds will help. I'm taking a Babble break for a few days. Take care.

Hugs,
MidnightBlue

Maxime, I'm afraid to ask, but does that mean you are feeling better and your meds are finally working? Fondly, Phillipa

Hi Phillipa. Well all the physical symptoms I was experiencing are gone (muscle soreness, painful joints) but the fatigue remains. The Advair may have done something to my adrenal system ... who knows. Also, many people talked about gaining weight on the med.

The irritability is all gone.

The depression and suicidal thoughts remain. But I only re-started the Parnate a week ago so I will have to wait and see. I'm at 40 mg and need to get to 80-100 mg. But at least this time no side effects like when I retried it in February.

I think I will always have depression despite the Parnate because of external factors: my caloric intake; I'm jobless; I'm living with my mom and we don't get along; my constant feelings of worthlessness associated with my eating disorder.

But if I can get up to 80 mg of Parnate and stay there for a few weeks, I HOPE I will feel some improvement. And some improvement is better than none because with that comes hope.

If CK1 hadn't made that post, I would never have thought about the Advair even though I know cortisone/steriods can mess up a person with depression or BP. But I was busy planning to end my life. I had a date picked out and everything.

So that is where I am right now. I really need to find a therapist. I've been waiting for over a year now.

Hey Ed. If my asthma worsens I will call her. If I get a cold, I am doomed! LOL! But for now, I think I can wait.

I like the idea of trying Singulair because it is suppose to help with seasonal allergies and I get them pretty bad.

Maxime,
I got off Advair two weeks ago and have been doing GREAT ever since! I'm taking Prozac and it's working wonderfully. If I was still taking Advair, I'll bet I wouldn't be tolerating Prozac at all. In fact, I'll bet that Paxil wouldn't have quit working after 8 months either. I'm not on any asthma meds and am having no shortness of breath. Once I got off Advair, I reduced my Allegra from 180mg to 60mg and stopped taking Lamictal 25mg and I haven't felt better in months. I think we are just taking too many drugs and every drug has side effects so it's best to go with the least amount possible.

I'm glad my post helped you....it's a good feeling!

Take care
