Yes, there is someone on the board who takes seconal. But I would say they are rarely prescribed. But I wish I could get my hands on a bottle.

Also I think someone convinced their Doc to give Nembutal for a while, for hard out insomnia."But I wish could get my hands on a bottle"
I know what you mean, insomnia can drive you crazy, and Nembutal is supposed to be very effective, would be great for thoes insomniac escapes, he found it so, "the best sleep ever" is how I think he described it, forgotten who thou.Have to rely on some Benzos and wait it out arrrrrggggg!!!!!!

When I was about 8 months pregnant with my second son, I was having preterm labor and could not sleep.
My dr. prescribed me seconal (and swore it was safe for the baby- I was the type that refused even tylenol while pregnant!). Anyway, I was desperate for sleep so I took it.
I can remember being downstairs and my husband had to CARRY me up to the bed. It was the best sleep aide I've ever taken.
I liked it soo much that I threw it out after using it twice becuase I was beginning to scare myself (afraid of addiction).
So it definitely works. I think it might work TOO well. LOL

Was this recently or years ago?
Seconal seems like last resort stuff? A hangover (pun) from the 1950's?It was so effective, You were scared you may come to rely on it?
how would you describe the sleep from 1? 100mg Capsule?

they still make it in liquid-the Vet who came here last month had a huge bottle of it
was this when The 20mgs dex spans 4x day were too much for you to get to sleep?
You took it for 1 month and found it lost sleep inducing qualities after that?
you took 1 100mg cap?
how would describe the sleep,
If you didn't sleep was it a powerfull anxiolytic when in effect?
I've heard only 30 or so are a dangerous amount of pentobarb-it was for our old dog- but this was intentional:(-poor thing
Cheers

I was given it in September of 1999. So it's been almost 6 years ago. I had never heard of it before until my dr. gave it to me.
I slept like a baby- I just remember liking it so much that I was concerned I would get addicted easily.

Actually I was on it because of the insomnia Wellbutrin caused. I took 200mg. It took a couple nights for it to kick in. Once you take it it puts you right to sleep. VERY VERY VERY peaceful sleep and restful I thought - best sleep I've gotten. No hangover for me either. I was also still able to get up and go to the bathroom if needed. Of course it is very easy to overdose.I was on it for 2 months actuallly. I could feel the tolerance creeping up - but my doc only wanted me on it short-term. I think it would have lasted another month or so.

Yerlooking back he took noctec for 2 weeks then tuinal (Seconal+Amytal) 2-4 for 2 weeks to prevent tolerance.
He even said Seconal alone didn't work!
That guy has tried every Psych drug in existance.

It's been too long ago for me to remember. It seems like my doctor only gave me like 10 pills anyway.
I only flushed 8 of them.
No, I've really never thought about it. The Restoril helps me sleep pretty well at this point.

Well it's as good but it is a different feeling/reaction.
Seconal made me KNOCK out cold.
Restoril gently puts me to sleep.
I prefer the latter. LOL

I don't expect anybody here is as dumb as me. When I was in school a friend gave me a few Seconal capsules. My first thought of course was to empty one and put it up my nose, white powdery substance goes in the nose right? Right away it was painful, really painful and I started sneezing, violently. After a little while I was out but according to my roommate I sneezed every few seconds in my sleep all night.
So if anyone reads this don't snort Seconal, you won't like it, trust me.

I've heard this.
But with Seconal NEVER being Scripted now anyways, this is a minor concern.

Is Seconal still available in the US? I found out I have a severe sleep phase disorder. I KNOW that a barbituate would get me back on track within a month. I've been on Nembutal in the past for the same thing and it worked perfectly. Now they stopped making it. Anyone know about Seconal?

I don't know about the US but I do know that Seconal and Amytal are still available in the UK.
