I have just started Topamax and I'm suppose to take it at night but it keeps me up all night urinating. Is that normal. It's like takening a water pill. I'm only on 50 mgs. Will it go away?I've already lost 2 pounds but it must be water!
Thanks!

Oh and I forgot, it can also cause urinary incontinence, and an irritable bladder.

Hi,
Topamax may have a weak diuretic effect because it is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor.

Hi Lynne,
just wanted to tell you in case no one had. Especially if you are loosing a lot of fluid, drink a LOT of water, ok. Cause Topamax can cause kidney stones. I've never got any, and drinking is supposed to help keep the kidney stones away.Goodluck, hopefully the side effects will go away in a week or so ! (This is day 3 for me of my 3rd run on it).

I don't have frequent urination on it, and I'm not losing weight, but I do feel a bit crampy when I urinate. I don't feel like I have a bladder infection, it almost feels like menstrual cramps, but it's not. Is this what an irritated bladder feels like?
I'm only on 50mg of Topamax.
Good thing I see my doc Monday.
This is the end of the thread.
