Effexor Talk

I was put on 75mg a day for Effexo RX for anxiety. Don't have the once or 2x a monty attacks anymore but am wondering if anyone else has the following sides: sweating, no weight loss, gas, (sorry guys) irregular periods at the start, apathy for daily routine, itching and a dry 'tickle' cough. My cough started about a week after I started on this. I only get it a couple times a day. It's like a tickle in the throat and the sides of the throat switch. Cough drops stop it but it's annoying!! Let me know

How long have you been on Effexor? At first the going was very rough for me, but after a while it worked pretty well.

I have been on Effexor for a few months now - started at your dosage - definitely noticed an increase in sweating - still having that - and as for the coughing - I had thought it was due to other things, but could be a side effect now that you mention it. It usually hits me at 4 am. Almost to the hour almost every night!! Other things for me were/are cold feet, clenching jaw, and leg muscles that feel like they need a stretch. The motivation thing for me is better, because I had NO motivation before, as I was depressed. Just started on 112.5 mgs yesterday, hoping that will be as high as I have to go. I am no longer depressed, but am still not quite un-depressed enough, if you know what I mean. Good luck to you.

Hi Pagan,

I've been on 75mg Effexor since about Jan 15, so nearly 3 months, and I think I've had about every side effect that anyone can have. These include:

The first couple weeks, then they went away:
- nausea
- anxiety
- dizziness
- dissociation
- nervousness
- depression
- crying jags
- racing heartbeat

The first several weeks:
- nervousness
- anxiety
- depression
- crying jags
- dissociation

Off and on throughout:
- night sweats
- sweatiness during the day, but only around my midsection
- vision changes
- sore jaw muscles

All the time:
- apathy apathy apathy
- trouble achieving orgasm (although my libido remains healthy)
- sore bum muscles (seriously – tight glutes, hips get very sore)
- irregular periods (was like clockwork before, but now it comes up to 5 days late - freaks me out)

But despite all this, I am very pleased about my results on Effexor. My anxiety and depression are almost completely dealt with, and I can cope much better.

Hope your sides improve. But don’t be surprised if they come and go, or if you get some new ones when old ones go away.
