DAY 4: EYELID STILL TWITCHING!

Posted by Colleen D. on March 1, 2005, at 18:20:13

I take a multi-vitamin and eat more than my share of bananas. This must be from the Cymbalta. I didn't have it with Effexor though. I hate to make a change because of this annoying little event, but it's my upper right eyelid and when it twitches, it moves my eyelashes into my line of vision. Should I consult my doc or give it more time to hopefully resolve itself!?!

ARRGHHH,
Colleen

I've had this happen but it only lasted for about 20 minutes and it was when I was under a lot of stress.

BUT, I'm guessin' yours could very well be the Cymbalta. I also would guess that in time, it would go away but it's easy for me to say, since my eyelid isn't doing the balloon bounce.

Hope it gets better soon.

My right eyelid did the exact same thing intermittently for 3 or 4 days when my doc upped my Symbyax dose. Or was it the Lamictal...I forget.
It went away. Hopefully yours will too. I think it's fairly common but it sure makes me wonder what secrets the eyelids hold about MI. : )

For peace of mind call your doc. The anxiety of wondering could be causing it to continue. Fondly, Phillipa

effexor made my eyelid twitch for days and days. I just remembered that when I read this. It could be meds or stress I think. I would wait it out, mine did stop

Hey Colleen - it may pass by itself - I get eye twitches all the time that are on and off for a couple of days.

However, when my DS, who also has GAD and OCD, went on Zoloft a vocal tic was "uncovered" that did not go away until after he was completely weaned off of it. The tic would become more pronounced when he was nervous or excited.

He's on Luvox now and the tic has not resurfaced. He just has different reactions to different SSRIs (when we tried Paxil, he became so activated he didn't sleep for two days!).

Bottom line - call your pdoc. If it is a tic, you can discuss your options. Even if it isn't, maybe he/she can suggest something that might help. Especially if it is stress induced.

Good luck!

What dosage of Cymbalta are you on? I was experiencing a bit of eye twitching, though not enough to be super annoying. More troubling was that my blood pressure was up, so we reduced my Cymbalta dose from 60mg to 40mg. And I added a low-dose potassium supplement (I can only eat so many bananas!) My blood pressure and eye twitching both seem to be down.

Calcium is supposed to help with eye twitching, too, but I was already taking that, along with some magnesium, in the evening as the combination seems to help me sleep a little better. Do you get enough calcium?

I'm peeing a lot on Cymbalta and I think that's made it necessary for me to tweak my supplements.

Good luck!

i too have had some eyelid twitching on cymbalta. not a huge amount but some. i've also had some mornings where i have woken up with swelling under one of my eyes. this seems to switch eyes and only happens once in a while. interesting that there might be a relationship with eyes and cymbalta?

Consider that they might be benign fasciculations. They generally go away with time alone.

Hi Colleen

Magnesium helped my eye twitches. I get them when I read too much and am experiencing anxiety.
