Going to stop Nortiptyline?

Posted by adam canada on January 19, 2005, at 20:51:19

I been taking paxil for a while. It has gotten rid of severe agonizing mental pains and anxiety somewhat but I lack motivation or drive. also my sex drive is very low. i am also tired from time to time. and I have BIG memory problems from ECT in the past.

Anyway I tried nortriptyline yesterday 10mg. I am very sensitive to meds, the 5mg paxil I am on seems to be optimal dose for me. 10mg made me a zombie who would sleep all day every day.

Anyway I need to know if I really should continue on nortrip. This may seem strange but I been feeling very WIERD today. But mostly first half of the day. I been a ghoul in some ways. I slept til noon then I got up for 2 hours. Then I went back to sleep and woke up at 7am. This nortip seems to make me quite tired. Also I felt over medicated or something today as well. Like this wierd feeling in my head. Like a warm hot burning sensation.

What should I expect from this? The first half of the day had me feeling quite worse than when I was on just paxil. So I been eager to stop nortiptyline.

I have been on 15+ medications for my severe depression and anxiety. My biggest symptoms now are lack of motivation, drive, ability to enjoy things, lack of sex drive and BIG ONE is social inability.

It is hard for me to be social.

Sometimes when I try dexedrine this is fixed but dex works in strange ways and seems to make me feel great half the time and not so great the other half.

So what can i do?? What options do I have??

Vivarint turned me into a sexual beast (dont remember other things it did) but i tried it on it's very own. And for that it was spectacular. But I cannot seem to find it anywhere and perhaps onyl france carries it now. So how can i get it. or something like it?

But also what can help my main symptoms? I believe this is Dysmythia or however you spell it?

Any insight at all would be helpful. Right now I dont feel as strange or drugged or tired as I did this morning but I still feel strange in ways.

Also many meds have a tendancy to make me feel worse and in some cases like I wish I was dead. My head would fry and the agonizing pain would be dreadful. Like the chemicals in my brain working overtime or something. or just my brain being clogged with all these chimicals. I dont know. Surprisingly dexedrine helps with mental pains.
Some meds that have made me feel in severe pain with ALSO worsening of symptoms have been Prozac, Celexa, Effexor( SEVERELY), and etc.

So what can help me? thanks for any insight

edit I woke up at 7pm. (nt)

I certainly can't know the details of your med history, but do remember that all meds have side effects, many of whoch fade after the first week. YOu need to give a week or so to figure out which side effects are going to be stubborn and stay there. Tricyclic meds like nortryptiline are known to make you sleepy, especially at the beginning. What dose are you taking? If you are sensitive, maybe you should start at an even smaller dose? And you do take it at night, right?
Good luck.
