hi everyone!
i'm looking for some advice (or maybe just words of encouragement). I have been diagnosed with tourette's syndrome for the last 12 years though I have been able to copy without meds until I went away to college. I started out with Clonidine at 12 mg a day 3 years ago, through pills at first and then through dermal patches which I wore for a week at a time. anyways, up until about 6 weeks ago I was taking 10 mg of ORAP (pimozide) daily to control my tourette's (physical spams only, no vocal tics). I had been taking that since the beginning of the last summer because the Clonidine I was on just didn't seem to be working anymore. After going back to school the side effects from the ORAP were too much for me to handle after the workload increased and i had no energy and was constantly fatigued as well as constantly depressed (that'll show me for being a chemistry major). anyways over thanksgiving break my doctor switched me over to Abilify as a milder drug, now the side effects are lower (the depression is still there) but the tics are worse. this is my last year and i just don't know what to do to control it. I'm going to see a school counselor soon to see if I can get some help with my depression, though I'm always looking for alternative therapies before I hit the drugs. I hope if I can come up with a solution for my physical problems that'll help out.
any advice would be great.
