Goodbye Cymbalta - Back to Remeron -Any success

Posted by invisiblemanpa on November 24, 2004, at 16:55:17

After 8 weeks on cymbalta with no help, after week four depression symptons got much worse and I added Remeron back in. I agreed today with Psy. doc to stop the cymbalta over the next two weeks and increase the Remeron to 60 mg. Remeron has been the only ad that has had any effect at all and I have tried just about all. I also suffer from GA and Socail Anxiety, has anyone had any luck with Remeron relieving anxiety? Please pass on any good or bad experiances. I know about the weight gain. I added 25 lbs on my first AD about 3 years ago and it has stayed. So hopefully with my active exercise program and healthy diet the Remeron won't add more. I take Klonopin for the anxiety but was hoping to hear off some luck with crossover benefits from Remeron. Thanks!

The 30 mgs tabs are orange and the 45 are white. I will be looking at a 45mg and a 15mg...probably with dinner....so I can get up as I did have a problem being groggy when I first started it....glad to hear you had luck with anxiety!

I didn't have any positive results on anxiety as crazychikuk did. Doses for me were from 15 - 45mg and it was all bout the same except for the amount of sleepiness during the say. Being totally zonked out all day actually made my anxiety worse for some reason. Best of luck with it though..perhaps your results will mimmick the chic from the UK

I am on 15mg and it is not doing enough for anxiety or depression. I can't bump up because I lapse into a coma. I feel angry and agitated on this drug. Husband noticed the increased anger from the second week I was on it.

I have withdrawal symptoms when I try to discontinue and can't afford to go through that this time of year, especially since I don't have another med to try at the moment!

I had to stop my remeron cold turkey after being on it for over a year cus of the uk changing from tablet form to soltab which i didnt get on with...i didnt have any withdrawl except from depression ..

which version are you taking? cus you can withdraw slowely using the liquid version.. and maybe starting something else at a very low dose.. ? if you have been on it a while and it is making u moody and a risk it could send you into a coma then its worth stopping it..
may i ask what you suffer with ?

I've had great success on remeron for depression and extreme anxiety/panic attacks.
Sorry to hear about the cymbalta,
best wishes

Cherylynn,
May I ask, what dosage you were on and how long? How long did it take to get a benefit? I have increased yesterday the Remeron to 45 and feel pretty groggy (almost like a hangover)...and am supposed to go up to 60 mg. Were you also taking any benzo for anxiety issues?
Thanks!

I can't believe it but half of a 15mg remeron get rid of anxiety and helps with my depression without making me super groggy. I have been on nearly all of the meds and this is working for me.

Speed,
Wow...that is awesome...good for you. I can't imagine staying at 60 mg of Remeron for very long if the morning grogginess does not let up. Plus probably more weight gain. I know on the drug companies web site the list 45mg as the maximum dosage. 30 mg did not bother me when it was first added back in July...maybe that is where I will end up. But I am not satisfied with my new forced upon me Psy doc. I was switched due to some insurance BS...So I have raised holy hell with Blue Cross and the UPMC in Pittsburgh as I really know that I was blown off by this new Psy...I have talked to enough to know that he was not interested in my diagnosis at all......so I will be shopping for Psy docs for Christmas I guess! I was ready to discuss other options...zoloft, celexa and it's cousin..etc.......it was the quickest blow off get out of my office ever...............
