My pharmacist said they've been having trouble resupplying Inderal LA and he said he would look into it but he wasn't very reassuring. This is the second time he has shortchanged me and said he would make it up on the next refill. This is a big pharmacy too. (second to walgreens in my state) I don't know what to make of it.
Anyone else having this trouble? I know inderal isn't terribly popular but it's a dream for me - especially the inderal LA at 60mgs.

Hi Verne,
I'm taking Inderal LA 80mg BID. It helps quite a bit with the physical symptoms of anxiety, doesn't it? I stopped it for a few months, and I was soooo happy when I made the decision to continue with meds again. Feeling your heart pounding all the time is not exactly stress-reducing! *smile*
I have not had any difficulties with getting my scripts.....and my doc writes my scripts for three-month batches....meaning I get BIG bottles!! Lol!!
The pharmacy did not have enough Seroquel for my script one time. The prescription label on the bottle read that they owed me XX amount of pills. They phoned the next day to say the balance was ready for pick-up.
I don't think the pharmacist can only fill a partial order without making up the balance for you. That would amount to stealing....very unethical for a medical professional! I would suggest going to another pharmacy to have your scrips filled.....and possibly reporting this one particular pharmacist for not completing your order. Hmmmm. Sounds fishy.
Hugs,
Sandy

>Hi Verne,
Have you called any of the other pharmacies in your area? I'd be curious as to whether they have the inderal LA (60 mgs). If others have it, then you definitely know that something is fishy.K

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been using this pharmacy for over ten years and hate to move since it's close and they have my quirky insurance figured out.
I like the idea of getting a 3-month supply and will explore that option. That way I don't have to worry about running out.
The pharmacy has always made up any shortfalls in the prescription but it's such a hassle and creates anxiety. I hired someone to drive me around on errands yesterday, stopped by to pick up the 10 pills they owed me (it had been a week) and they still didn't have them.
My "driver" was gone longer than I had expected and I had a real attack of social anxiety or agoraphobia in the drugstore. I couldn't think straight and didn't know the names of people I had known for years. Overwhelmed and confused, I ended up buying 3 six packs of beer which I dove into as soon as I got home (10:00am).

Hi Verne,
It's good to know that the pharmacy makes up the balance of your scrips. I would think that they would make a courtesy phone call to let you know when the balance has arrived, though. Maybe you could ask the pharmacist if that is possible? And, yes, a 3-month supply is wonderful! All my meds are that way, and I feel like I'm walking home with an entire pharmacy in my bag!! LOL!! My doc gives me a year's worth of 3-month supplies. It helps me tremendously financially...as well as not feeling such humiliation from being at the pharmacy every month for my "stash". *grin*
What a shame that you had a panic attack at the store. I feel for you! But you made it home in one piece. Phew! Do you have these feelings often?
I find that I can't drink alcohol anymore. It shoots my blood pressure and heart rate sky high. And that, in turn, makes me anxious and panicky. I get a craving for a cooler sometimes, but I know that I could stroke out or something even worse if I drink. Sometimes that is rather frustrating. I hope you didn't have any bad effects from the beer.
Take care!
Sandy

Hi Sandy,
I don't often have panic attacks but I'm always uncomfortable in public. I live a very isolated life.
I find it easier to not drink while taking inderal LA and when I do drink, I can't drink as much. Inderal and alcohol don't really mix well for me since it makes me too sedated. Nothing dangerous, just makes drinking boring.
I have prudently put aside my cymbalta, having read it shouldn't be mixed with alcohol. When I felt the "binge" coming on about a week ago, I stopped taking cymbalta. I had been taking only 20mgs per day and thinking about every other day when I resume. A little goes a long way for me.
I hope I haven't stressed my liver with the near collision of cymbalta and alcohol. Heavy drinking and chirrosis runs in the family although unlike them I don't smoke. I also quit drinking for months or years at a time whereas they rarely quit for long.
I'm doing a little "remedial" drinking today but must quit soon (tomorrow) because I see the doc next Friday. The alcohol has jacked my blood pressure up (not dangerous) but I'm afraid the doc will want to bump me up to 80mgs Inderal LA if it remains high.
I'm hoping that in time - if I lose about 30lbs - I won't need inderal at all. My blood pressure is a reflection of how overweight I am and it has always been normal when my weight was normal.

Verne,Since your pharmacy does make up the difference eventually, it could also be just a case of poor planning on their part. I'm so sorry that the experience ended up taking such a toll on you though. I've had those kinds of attacks before. They're not fun to say the least. Under the circumstances I think you showed restraint in not diving into the beers before you got home!
I have followed many of your posts since you first had such a good response to Cymbalta and I was considering trying it at the time. I guess decreasing your dosage has left you with less defenses against anxiety and depression. Have you considered raising the dosage again or were the side effects that intolerable? You sounded so much happier on the higher dosage.
In addition, I wanted to say that I have also followed your posts because you have so much to say and you say it in such a witty and intelligent manner. I am frequently entertained by reading your messages and often gain some valuable insights at the same time.
Thanks,
Kara

If you have trouble to buy the propranolol la, there is a reliable, cheap online pharmacy (you dont need prescription):
xxx
I have ordered many times there, they only sell original products.

Kara,
Thanks for your kind words, input, and feedback - especially about the cymbalta.
Cymbalta seems to be a good fit for me but the drinking is a real monkey wrench. The warnings about alcohol use are enough to scare me into quitting one or the other.
I had been reducing my cymbalta dose due to the sexual dysfunction but perhaps that made me more vulnerable to drink. I was doing great, losing weight, and then fell off the wagon to deal with the double whammy: Halloween and the Election.
And now I'm drinking to deal with falling off the wagon. Bad wagon! I'm over trying to fix the wagon, just trying to unthink the infernal thing.
Meanwhile, I read that cymbalta has been shown to be useful in alcohol withdrawal or in reducing cravings (not sure, I can't find the resource to quote) and it also helps with certain types of pain. I was amazed the first time I took it. I thought I was having an acid flashback - which, for me, is a GOOD thing. I was grinning and felt a euphoria and lucidity I hadn't experienced in years.
I'm regrouping and anything but depressed. I'm a little disappointed with the drinking lapse but, more and more, the glass is looking half full. The inderal LA really does take care of most of the anxiety and gives me much needed breathing room. And if I don't drink, the cymbalta is promising.

verne,
I thought I was the only one who hated Halloween!I understand now about the issue with Cymbalta.
Hope you can get it to work for you to stop the craving for alcohol. It would be sad to give up on something that created "a euphoria and lucidity [you] hadn't experienced in years." I'd give almost anything for that feeling.Take care and keep us posted.
