Suggestions for no Withdrawl from Effexor XR

Posted by Karen500 on October 30, 2004, at 4:19:11

To have good success with your withdrawal from Effexor xr....I began weaning off 225mg for 1 month, then 125 mg for one month, then 75 for 2 weeks, then 37.5 for 2 -3 weeks. I then got Effexor in pill form (37.5 mg) I quartered it and took 3/4 of the pill for 1 week, then 1/2 pill for 1 week then 1/4 of pill for 1 week, then I ended up crushing the last 1/4 pill and taking 1/2 the powder. I had no withdrawal systems except for slight lightheadedness on the first day or so I decreased the amount.

Thanks for the encouragement Karen. I am on my second day of tapering from 150mg to 75mg (steep I know, but I'm impatient). Good to hear a positive experience amoung the bad ones :)

I was up to 150 of effexorXR, and I have had no withdrawal effects from tapering. I am now down to 37.5 MGs and I am doing great. I have done this very slowly though. The only thing I noticed was I was kinda sad the day after I dropped a pill. So good luck and just go REALLY REALLY SLOW when tapering.
