Lamictal response time

Posted by BJM on October 11, 2004, at 16:04:40

I'm just wondering when most people have noticed Lamictal truelly kicking in. How long? What dose? Along with what? etc. etc. etc.

Was the 5 weeks after you had reached 200mg or did it take 5 weeks to reach that dose. I am also taking low dose Prozac and Provigil.

I've titrated up to 125 from 25 in about two and half weeks. Havng no side effects (maybe a bit of itchiness, but not enough to attribute it to anything specific) but also havd had no positive effects. Suffer from mild depression, pdoc finally diagnosed mild bi-polar as I've had some hypomania in the past (is there anything more wonderful?). Please, lamictal users, tell me to hang in there, that once I hit 200, I'll again feel energized and not completely unemotional and detached again. Thanks all. -DRA

I titrated up 25 mgs per week and felt a difference within a few days. I was taking it with 40 mgs of Celexa to control self-destructive behavior and hopefully as a way to reduce the Cx dose. Initially I felt motivated and an absense of anxiety and paranoia that I don't remember experiencing since my youth. The need to self-medicate was gone.

However, I'm finding I lose the lion's share of this benefit 1-2 weeks after moving up to a particular dose. I've moved down to 20 mgs Celexa and that takes some time to normalize.

What are your initial symptoms and what effect are you looking to achieve.

Also, does anyone know the deal with this drug regarding poop-out? Will I be chasing its effectiveness up to 500 mgs, or should I level out at some point. At 200 mgs now.

Cheers,
Craig

trying to achieve an alleviation of mild depression. It's not crippling at all, it's just this detachment, fatigue, numbness. Hoping to feel some effects after 150-200. On 125 now and don't feel at all different.

Thanks.

Hey you guys. Well, on my second week of lamictal (50 mg), i felt better than i had in 3 years. I'm BPII, but mostly depression, and sleep is always a problem, mostly oversleeping.
The good effect went away after a week, so now i am tirating my way up, just on a how im feeling basis. As I go up a little, I am noticing it's good effects once again. Then my only problem is anxiety, to which i might consider a SSRI.

Best wishes
