It seems really high to me but it was just prescribed along with some Seroquel, Lexapro and Lamictal.
Any thoughts? Seizures?

Im no expert, but I dont think anyone should start Wellbutrin at 450. I think the other posters on this board would agree.
Were you prescribed all these meds at once, or are you already taking some of them?> It seems really high to me but it was just prescribed along with some Seroquel, Lexapro and Lamictal.

Hi:
Frankly, I can not able to take that 'mass' dosage, however in the past, I did take the 400 mg. WB sr, ... the 200 mg. in the morning, 100 mg. afternoon and the last 100 mg. before going to the bed. However, I got 'heart-racing' after about two or three weeks and needed to go back to the original dosage, the 300 mg.
In my experience, 'Heart-racing' was a sort related to 'high-blood pressure' caused by the 400 mg. But, I have no honest clue why this happened to me, ... just my 'pure' guess tho', ... possibly, WB sr raised the blood-pressure(my BP is always in normal range). I never had 'seizure' type from the 400 mg., but once or twice experienced some dizziness on the road. Then, it's well known that more than the 300 mg. is NOT recommendable unless you have 'extreme' tolerance on this med., WB sr. However, in my reading, some of folks taking even the 600 mg. per day, that is quite surprising me as knowing whether those folks do NOT have any trouble from taking that 'massive' dosage.

To answer your question, yes, I'm on 450mg of XL (for ADD). I'd started at 150, and worked up to 450 over the course of 6 months. It's been an effective dosage for me, and doesn't cause any unacceptable side effects (besides mild, malodorous sweating). It also hasn't lost its efficacy over the year that I've been on it.

I actually started at 150, went up to 300 and now I'm going to 450. It's been gradual. I haven't had heart racing lately. It only seems to happen the first week or two of the increase. I was just concerned since I haven't heard of anyone taking 450 of the XL version before.

I just recently started taking 450mg of the XL daily, no problems that I am aware of with that dose. I do believe it is the max recommended dose however; though occasionally larger doses are used.
I also take adderall in combination with it, and both are stimulating to differing degrees. Only side-effect I ever have is when I combine the two, and that is increased general and social anxiety.
Good luck!
Matt

To anyone on Wellbutrin (XL) --Id like to know how long it takes for a change in doseage to kick in for you.
I just doubled to 300mg last week. Im disappointed with how its working for me--its helping me it seems in the right way, but even this little help takes 10 hours to kick in. Should I try the SR version? XL just seems to be so s l o w and wimpy.

I am taking Buproprion SR, generic but I think it is about the same for me. My daughter takes wellbutrin XL, 300mg in the am. Last year she took the 450 of the XL and felt great. Sweating profusely with it though, wasn't her thing. She has dropped back down now. I don't know if either one of us can tell a difference.
