Hi, I have been taking Lexapro, Klonopin, and Remeron for about two years for several anxiety disorders. Like most people I have had to try several medications and have switched back and forth to find the right combonation.
My nuerologist has recently put me on Trileptal for neurological purposes althoug I know it can be used ad a psychological med.
I am also on Lipitor for high cholesterol.
My question is can this many medications be taken for years without damaging vital organs such as the liver and kidnyes in which they travel through.
I have to think that there must be some risk of damage. Or am I just worrying over nothing.
Anyones comments would be greatly appreciated.

I think they can case some damage, but I guess it's a question of what is worse. The anxiety can cause damage in your personal psychological life, and high cholesterol probably has a higher chance of negatively impacting your health more than Lipitor. I guess it's a cost effect analysis that you have to do. I don't know if they would impact your life expectancy much, whereas high cholesterol most certainly would. You might think about checking with a psychopharmacologist to ease your concerns or identify anything that could really potentially harm your body.

There can be a risk but you can get accuate tests that let you know how your kidneys and liver are doing. You need to ask your docotor about this. Then, at the first signs of organ problems (if they occur) you can make changes.

May I ask if you are male or female? It's pretty rare that females require drugs like Lipitor.

Thanks for your response. The reason I was so worried is that I have never done drugs or anything like that. And I have been having abominal pains it in the evening about an hour after I take my afternoon meds. That is why I got kind of worried.
I had a liver panel test and other blood test done about 6-8 months ago but I have started Trileptal and Lipitor since those test were conducted.

Thanks for your time to responde to my post. The reason I became worried is that I have never done drugs or anything like that. And I have been tried on tons of medications over the last five years for these disorders. Every doctor having their own cocktail for treatment. And hear lately I have started having abnominal pains about an hour after taking my afternoon meds.

I know one psychotic individual who is in his eighties now. He is still doing well without any problems other than TD which could be a result of chronic chlorpromazine therapy. He still attends church with chewing constantly and blinking. Unfortunately his elder son, who didn't acquired schizophrenia from his father and would never had taken any psychiatric medications died recently at the age 55.

I am worried too.
I was on thorazine for awhile back in the early 90's.
It angers me to think I may get TD from meds that I didn't put myself on and didn't have a choice in taking.
