My pdoc said to stop taking Welbutrin. The zaps continued. I called my pdoc and even my regular doc for a second opinion. pdoc told me to go down to 175 mg for two days and stop. Regular MD said it sounds like I am allergic to Effexor. Last Thursday I quit taking Effexor. I went from 300 mg/day to 150 mg the next and stopped. WHOA! Terrible withdrawls: zapping still, vomiting, nausea, very tired at times, really strange dreams, just a general crummy, flu like symptoms. I think I am getting better very slowly each day. I am taking 30 mg of Buspar for anxiety, which I do suffer pretty bad from. The good part of that is the anxiety is pretty much staying away. Anyone else had terrible withdrawls or possible allergic reactions to Effexor?

You might go back on the Effexor and taper off very slowly. Tons of people have had trouble getting off of it. I thought I would die. And I only took 75mg....electrical zaps, headaches, nausea, etc. etc. good luck.

Thank you for reassuring me I am not nuts. It's an awful feeling, but hopefully it will be out of my system soon. Thank you for posting.

How long do the withdrawal effects last that you know of? I still have zaps and am tired. I am no longer vomiting or nauseous (sp?)
