I know where you are. Although SSRI's and effexor have some things in common they do work differently. Many people did not feel better on effexor than they did on an SSRI.

No, Rainee. You are definitely not lazy.

It's the depression.

You'll get no argument from me.

Hi! What SSRI did you take? For how long? Why did you change to effexor?
How long have you been on effexor?
Sorry for all the questions, but it is important to know in order to give you proper advise.
You are not lazy, the anxiety is paralyzing you!

The longest SSRI I took was prozac for about 5 years and it worked wonders in the begining but the depression broke through but it still helped with anxiety and obbsessive thinkining. I tried paxil and also lexapro really all the same effect.
I have been on effexor for 5 weeks starting at 75 working too 225. I hope I can get better my family needs me.

Wow! It looks like you have tried them all!
I have tried Celexa and I am now taking Lexapro. Both have worked pretty good for me. Both helped with depression and severe anxiety as well. I also take Xanax as needed to control anxiety. Maybe you should talk to your pdoc about it. I mention this because, at least in my case, it is the anxiety that parealyzes me. I cannot function when I suffer an anxiety attack. Once the anxiety is under control, it is amazing what I can accomplish in just a few hours.
Best of luck, let us know how you are doing.

Hi Rainee,

Have you had any positives from Effexor? Generally the upper dosage limit is your blood pressure. Effexor at low doseages is like an SSRI, as the doseage increases, it begins to affect NE as well, so it has SSRI side effects as well as NE side effects.

Cheers,
Paul.
