Has anyone taken buspar by itself as a monotherapy, in high doses for depression.
I've heard it can help depression.

Yes, I have done this. I found it at 15 mg it helped my depression. It was like someone switched the light on in my room. What a chaotic mess my depression had lead me down a road to ruin. I went up to 60 mg. It was too stimulating. I was aggitated. I had severe road rage. It was like the depression was lifting and under it was rage. My sexual ability was excellent. Appetite increased right after taking a dose with dizziness. In the beginning, I had to lay down due to the severe dizziness. It does pass. I was determined to ride this through, since my depression was debiliating. Watch the dosage. You may get better and then higher dosages cause irritability.

I had very similiar effects with Buspar, side effects wore off quick and the sexual effects were no existant....but after about 3 months it just completely pooped out. That was 2 years ago.Recently my psych. tried to add in 15 mg to help with growing depression and the side effects were horrible. I dumped it in the toilet. Don't plan on long term success. I think some of the newer meds. have a much better success rate.

Buspar by itself does not seem to help the majority of people. It's been called the most expensive placebo ever. There's nothing like a benzo for anxiety attacks and it helps with an AD for depression to balance a person out if anxiety is a problem. I have not seen Buspar work for hardly anyone, just a few people.
