I know of three people who take risperdal for various reasons and all of them seem to have developed compulsive eating and/or drinking(any fluid) habits. It's as if they've lost the ability to "feel full". Many of the journal articles list weight gain as a side effect but are rather vague as to what causes the weight gain. When severe impairment of judgement is an issue, as is the case with one of these folks, the initial problems for which they sought treatment in the first place, seem to be compounded by this effect. Has anyone else noticed satiety issues with this drug?

Wow, did your doc know this? The friend of mine who has been on it the longest has been known to eat until he has projectile vomiting on occasion, but the other 2 seem to just eat at a constant pace throughout the day. It's the total amount for them that becomes extremely excessive.

Yeah, but she's new and gave me a "baby" dosage. It may have been because the Lamictal caused insomnia and she thinks I'm BII. I was supposed to take this for 10 days and then she'd start me on a mood stabilizer (already tried most of them.) I really do not think I'm BII. Anyway, I'm outta there. I did some more investigation and feel that this is not the way for me to go. I am not in denial of my mental problems and have tried many, many meds. I'm willing to tolerate some side effects, but this just looks horrible for me. When I got the script and read the info, I started crying. I just remember what a terrible time I had on Zyprexa and it looked like it would just be that all over again.
Thank you so much for posting.
