Is balsamic vinegar OK? Have you eaten it without problems?

Depends on the person and the vinegar! Some vinegars are much more fermented than others. Some people are much more sensative to tyramine than others. If you haven't had any problems yet (if you've been on an MAOI for a few months with no adverse food reactions) then a small amount is probably OK. I experimented with it on Parnate with no problems. That's only one data point though.

I am on 60mg/day Parnate my research and personal experience is that most lists of diet restrictions/dangers are over-hyped and overly conservative. However, that should not lure one into a false sense of caution...still better safe than sorry. I have eaten small amounts (someti as an experiment) of things on the "longer lists" without problem. In fact, since I started Parnate I have had no BP elevations at all, spontaneous or reactive. I also have not experienced orthostatic hypotension. So far, lots of daytime sleepiness, total loss of appetite (I've forgotten what it's like to feel hungry) and an alarming disappearance of what used to be for 40 years a healthy sex drive. So far, I take this to mean I am under-dosed, but convincing my providr of this may be difficult on my upcoming Feb. 3 appointment. PDR and other establishment sources set the maximum dose at 60mg/day. From Psychobabble I've learned that some people need 60 to100+ mg to respond. So I may be in that often cited predicament of having to educate, cajole or somehow manipulate my provider into doing what is best for ME. It appears that sometimes that is not their primary focus. Persistence ands Patience. Regards, Sailor

I have not had any problem with balsamic vinegar. I tend to buy the cheap mass-produced kind. If you have a specialty kind that was perhaps aged, then you might want to stay away from that.

Decent Balsamic can be 100 years old, cheap Balsamic is red wine vinegar + caramel.
