Wellbutrin XL or Wellbutrin SR?

Posted by Dog on December 15, 2003, at 12:26:59

have been taking the new XLs for about 3 weeks now.. am not completely sold on this new XL thing... switched from 2 - 150 mg SRs per day to 1 - 300 mg XL... took the SRs at 7 am and at 3 pm... take the XL once at 7 am...not really sold on XLs yet...like the convenience, but wonder about the efficacy...have felt nausea and lethargy: trouble getting going in the morning...this morning i woke up with nausea and very tired...had trouble getting up and showered and dressed, like moving in slow motion... trouble concentrating...its like i decreased the dose instead of stayed the same...theres been two mornings when i forgot to take XLs and took leftover SRs instead...felt better w/ SRs i think...

I think I would switch back if I were you.

Hi,

Yeah, I agree with Bill LL.

<<felt better w/ SRs i think...
>>I have no clue why people respond differently to certain meds, but if the others were working better for you, go back on them.

I'm on WB SR, same dose as you had, and just changing the time I take my 2nd pill does me in. If I take it past 4pm, I will not sleep well that night. The new stuff might be extended release or whatever, but it doesn't mean it's entirely even the entire day.....

Good luck. I had serious issues with anxiety/anger/crabbiness when starting WB, but it really works well for me now (well, I'm not suicidal). :-)

Susan

I take the SRs, 150 mg twice a day--also at 7 a.m. and after lunch (between 1 and 3 p.m.). I was interested to see that someone else takes them at those times--I have tried all different times and that combo seems to work the best. I haven't tried XL--I'm afraid to mess up what's working for me...though I do like the idea of once a day

take the XL once at 7 am...not really sold on XLs yet...like the convenience, but wonder about the efficacy...have felt nausea and lethargy: trouble getting going in the morning...this morning i woke up with nausea and very tired...had trouble getting up and showered and dressed, like moving in slow motion... trouble concentrating...its like i decreased the dose instead of stayed the same...theres been two mornings when i forgot to take XLs and took leftover SRs instead...felt better w/ SRs i think...

How long before Wellbutrin XL kicks in?

I'm not sure if this post belongs under this thread but does anyone remember how long it took for you to feel some relief?

As of this past Saturday, I've cut back my lexapro to 10 mg and added Wellbutrin XL 150 mg to the mix.

I really need to feel better soon.
