Take what I say with a grain of salt....the whole thing is extremely complex, and looking at a tiny fragment of the complex system may distort what we see.....

The 5-HT2c receptor downregulates dopaminergic and histaminergic neurons. Disturbances in 5-HT2c sensitivity or structural defects are associated both with OCD, and suicidal depression. By an unknown mechanism, 5-HT2c also regulates appetite, and has been associated with both anorexia and obesity.

Some things I've heard about 5HT-2C that are curious:

1) Most drugs which block 5HT-2A also block 5HT-2C;

2) Excessive 5HT-2C agonism has been said to underlies long-term SSRI weight gain.

Take these, not with a pinch of salt, but with the mine it came from :)
